This mastodon fediverse offers a lot of interesting features for refugees from the bird app, but the real question is: why is #MartinScorsese’s #Goncharov (1973) not trending here yet?
pls help me settle this debate: is #goncharov a christmas movie?
Finally got around to watching Goncharov. It's a classic, I know, and a little embarrassing to admit I hadn't already seen it 😅
But oh my gosh, I LOVE what the director did with it! Matteo was so ahead of his time. Every scene had so much care, so much depth; the whole thing felt as smooth and weightless as a dream.

Feel like I need to re-introduce myself since it's a new platform.
I design silly card games (almost 20 published games now).
I'm big fan of punk rock and the early 90's board game HeroQuest (which was recently released)
I'm most known for the Drinking Quest series and several webcomic games like Your Friend is Sad and Cheese Factory.
I used to tweet about my incredible biceps all the time but after 11 years, is it time to let that go?
@JasonAnarchy I think we're going to see companies attempt to encroach on this territory because they have marketing budgets and Mastodon doesn't.
As an open source maintainer, I will say this. Probably the easiest thing you can contribute to an open source project is appreciation and encouragement.
After maintaining even a relatively successful project for a while, positive feedback becomes an invaluable source of motivation.
Especially now, as I'm heading into another winter in complete darkness, I thank you for all the kind words! ❤️
Episode 393: Federated Fun. A massive amount of #Mastodon musings, including how to get started and other #Fediverse services such as #pixelfed, #bookwyrm and #peertube #podcast #tech https://gamesatwork.biz/2022/11/21/e393-federated-fun/
(Longish) Introduction
Hi all,
Since I just switched instances, here’s my #introduction:
I’m a roughly 50-yr old white guy living in the PNW of the US. I’ve found my niche in construction for nearly 4 decades, mostly as a #union carpenter, most recently as a #DataAnalyst (construction’s rough for folks who are not cis/het white dudes, and I’ve always tried to make it better. I haven’t succeeded so far. It still sucks. Sorry guys). Of my family and friends, I’m one of very few cis/het folks. I live with my GF, our 3 #CatOverlords, and 3 of 4 teen offspring. I’m an #atheist, and I’m not generally a joiner, but I joined #TST a while ago because of their work #AgainstForcedBirth and #AgainstHate. The 7 tenants are pretty dope as well.
I was a red-diaper baby; my parents were #communist, #pagan, #hippy, #radical. They’re literally rad. We were poor. I’ve experienced years of #homelessness, I’ve struggled with #addiction, and I’m #FormerlyIncarcerated. I’ve been clean for a long time. Oh, and I can personally verify #ACAB. Facts
I’ve been thinking a lot, lately and always, about inequalities. There’re the ones I’ve known about and have struggled with my whole life: I am and have always been #AntiFascist, #AntiRacist, #AntiCapitalist, #Feminist, #ProChoice, for #LGBTQ rights, for #Reparations, for #LandBack, and we are absolutely in a #ClimateEmergency. But there’s a new one (to me) lately: It’s really gross that capitalists are shifting the pandemic burden of #COVID onto workers and poor people through inaction, misinformation, disinformation, and direct action. I find it obvious that the ethical thing to do is to protect those who are vulnerable, and who I won’t be able to identify and may never see, by avoiding infection myself, and pushing for safe spaces with clean air. Vaccines are great, but they’re not enough. #CovidIsAirborne. #WearAMask. Make it an N95 or better. This is not hard, and becomes more effective as more of us do it. So do it.
I’ve shared more and been more open since moving to mastodon a couple weeks ago than I ever have on SM. IDK, it just seems more welcoming here. Historically, I don’t post much. That seems to be changing. We shall see.
Anyways, I'm excited to be joining this community, and I'm looking forward to getting to know some folks over here!
Peace
Hello. Hi. Do you have a #hobby you're passionate about?
May I suggest something radical?
You DON'T have to turn it into a business.
Thank you for your time.
My ebooks and audiobooks (from Tor Books, Head of Zeus, McSweeneys, Beacon and others) are for sale all over the net, but I sell 'em too, and when you buy 'em from me, I earn twice as much and you get books with no DRM and no license "agreements."

This literature clock is the most wonderful thing I’ve seen in a long time. Checking the time becomes a moment of pure joy 😍
INDEPENDENT ARTISTS: have you got a brilliant new tune to promote? No need to pay a plugger, or a music submission site to get it heard. Just share it to Fresh On The Net https://freshonthenet.co.uk/submit and a dozen of our volunteer moderators will give it a listen. If they adore it, we'll publish it on our Listening Post this weekend and it won't cost you a penny :-)
On Social Platforms & Professionalism
I think we need to, culturally, seperate "professionalism" from "sanitized".
I work with a bunch of brilliant, competent, incredible people. And they are funny, and weird, and authentic. All the time.
But there's still a prevailing vision that "professionalism" is being "on". Is a mask you wear to show yourself as "adult". You hide the weird, you put on the suit, you shake hands, your jokes are designed for chuckles.
That's not professionalism to me. Professionalism is treating folks with respect and getting shit done. It's being honest and human.
De-brand yourself, be all of yourself, be your brilliant and weird and capable and ambitious self.
For no good reason. Here's a glamor shot of the KX1 with a set of @n6ara Tiny Paddles. What a pairing! #QRP #MorseCode #HamRadio
