Feeling the profound good fortune of being a person who has, for 20+ years, been enabled to tell stories to a lot of people I've never met. It means that I get to spend my time, even on dark days, working my brain into myth, history & wrongful certainties, trying to use my words to change the ways we imagine one another. It's an immense privilege to get to do this with my life. Sometimes I gnash. Writing can be hard, aggravating work. But in the end, I get to work on the problems. So: grateful.

Hope it’s going well for you. Almost the end of November.
I’m happy with the shape of my story and hope to have a decent draft to play with. I hit 42,000 last night, so I’m on track.
It’s been up and down - one day I wrote 4,265 words, on another 565. I was happy either way.

I was trying to reach someone in threat research at Crypto dot com. But apparently they either don't have a security department anymore or no one knows who to route my communications to. Rumor has it they fired a bunch of their security staff recently.

Anyone know anyone who is there? I have a scam that specifically targets Crypto dot com wallets, and nobody to coordinate research with.

I taught her to do it because her previous way of notifying me was pulling any paper out of my shelves and destroying it. this is much less destructive.

she used to ring for all kinds of things, but ever since she's chosen my roommate over me she only returns to my room to ring when she's hungry or to complain that my roommate's door is closed.

So many devs seem focused on making a better Mastodon, a better Mastodon clone, or another ActivityPub client altogether. And all of that is good and healthy.

But we should also be talking about all the possibilities of an open, federated system where no 1 company is deciding what a post is, what can be done with (or to) it, how other apps can use it, and how knowledge can be shared more effectively than Twitter of Facebook ever did. (Which was very little.) We can and should do much better.
