Currently off to Munich. Send me recommendations for great architecture to shoot please. Also, coffee shops and eatery recs are more than welcome.

Here's one from Berlin right before COVID hit.

Loving reminder: that store clerk, that cashier, that gas station attendant working today -- they have families, too. So, maybe you're stressed about something you forgot for the big dinner or some family squabble, but don't take it out on them. Be kind. Be considerate.

Hey bookloving tooters! As there’s more book talk here & more authors joining in, just an etiquette reminder: it’s best not to tag authors in book reviews, esp. not critical ones. It’s okay to tag authors with simple kind comments or questions, but let them decide for themselves if they want to seek out reviews or not.

We aren’t their bosses, we shouldn’t be sending performances reviews to their inboxes!

Today is Thanksgiving Day, and it is also the National Day of Mourning, which remembers the genocide of millions of Native Americans and their ongoing erasure today.

In giving thanks today, let us also reflect and act to stop the ongoing genocide of America's Indigenous Peoples.

Eighty years ago, #JapaneseAmericans who'd been uprooted from the West Coast celebrated #Thanksgiving behind barbed wire at the Gila River "Relocation Center" in southern #Arizona. Without noting the irony, the gov't placed the #ConcentrationCamp on the #reservation land of the Gila River Indian Community.
This is a short thread about that Thanksgiving.

Ohhh, I should add like to my intro sometime, too; I went Totally Crazy with that awhile back (and then felt like I had explored most of the interesting parts and sort of wandered off until these image-generators appeared).

Lots on the weblog: ceoln.wordpress.com/tag/gpt3/

#ProTip: every #Mastodon account auto-generates an RSS feed, so friends & colleagues who refuse to join can still reap the benefits of you sharing natively, here ~ they can subscribe to it from any feed reader and always be up-to-date ~ you can do that, too: mastodon.social/users/ChrisPir is my feed link (there's also a .atom feed for those who care) ~ change the domain & username and you should see yours, instead ~ just like the good ol' days of blogging ~ #SocialMedia #help #fediverse :clippy:

On this Thanksgiving Day, I encourage you to become familiar with the Native peoples whose land you reside on and to express your gratitude for their stewardship of this land. You can find that information at this website. native-land.ca/

In solidarity, for the next day or so please share works from your favourite First Nations authors, writers, poets and storytellers of Turtle Island.

Simply name a book and author, and add @indigenousauthors to boost your post.

If adding a book cover to your post, don't forget to use ALT to add a image description.

#DayOfMourning #FirstNations #NativeAmericans #Indigenous #AmReading #Solidarity

(apologies if Turtle Island is not the most acceptable term. I was trying to avoid using the name the colonisers forced upon sovereign peoples)

dark jazz, Song of the Day

When introducing people to the magic of the #DarkJazz genre it's all about the entry point.

So, for those of you who've never had the exquisite mournful pleasure, I'd like to start you off with "Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - Embers"

youtu.be/g4Y8SXxWLHA?t=3

This band has done astounding work outside of this, but Embers has that "revel in the #horror" quality.

There's a universe of this out there. Watch for future #SongOfTheDay entries for next-level stuff.

About time I did an #introduction post...

I write stories. I create images. I am looking to join those two passions and create a film.

I am fighting cynicism and my own ego-driven fantasies of how the world works in order to somehow gain a clear view of reality.

Every day I doubt a little more that this is at all possible.

IF I COULD TELL YOU ONE THING:

Everything is going to be okay. You are worthy. You can't do it wrong.

One day at a time.

Everything is going to be okay.

Large Magellanic Cloud

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. At a distance of 160,000 ly, it is one of our next galactic neighbors. The LMC is approx. 32,200 ly across, with 1% the mass of our own galaxy. Despite this, is the fourth-largest galaxy in the Local Group, after Andromeda, Milky Way and Triangulum galaxies.

LMC is host to hundreds of astronomical features with their own designations, including Tarantula Nebula, the brightest point in this image, featured center-left.

This wide field image spans over 10 degrees squared, by comparison the moon is only half a degree in diameter! The RGB data was collected with the new T70 telescope at the itelescope facility in Chile and provided through their member's data feed. Processing in APP and PixInsight.
