In a stunning reversal the San Francisco board of supervisors bans killer robots.

So as a Systems Engineer supporting the Artemis program, one of my responsibilities is to write Job Plans for performing Mission OPs.
Like today, I had a team of techs safing the fire systems on the ML so it can roll back to the VAB. They were executing one of my plans. I support them during the Op, meaning I'm there answer questions or to resolve issues. These folks are the pros. They know what they are doing.
I introduce myself as the "useless engineer", there just to support. We have a little fun, and they get the job done.
Me, 20 years ago: "HTML is fine, with some light CSS. I don't need a bunch of JavaScript."
Me, 10 years ago: "Look at all the jQuery I pumped in this page! It's so sparkly! And Bootstrap makes it look great everywhere!"
Me, at present: "HTML is fine, with some light CSS. I don't need a bunch of JavaScript."
I go through lots of graph paper, so to save a little money I made a LaTeX template to print my own. It was so handy that @duetosymmetry and I turned it into a LaTeX package.
There are various grid styles (graph, quadrille, hex, iso, dot grid, etc), and both custom and pre-defined color schemes.
Use it to easily print your own paper, or to make pdf page templates for your favorite tablet note-taking app.

Apropos absolutely nothing1…
I know it’s possible to migrate between servers, but it requires that the original server still be running. Does anyone run a backup service? I am envisioning some thing that periodically backs up all of your data from your current account. And then if you need to restore it, loads it into a temporary holding server, from which you can transfer it to a real home.
If this doesn’t exist, maybe I should make it a project.
Just read an account of a stalker who ran a Mastodon service for vulnerable people, and then shut it down when found out.
If you are thinking of submitting to PyCon 2023 and would like to see some examples of proposals that have been successful in the past, I maintain markdown files with all my previous conference proposals here: https://gitlab.com/pganssle/proposals
OK I can find surprisingly little information on duty of care for podcast guests, and good practice for protecting guests in the event of trolls, hate, harassment etc once an episode has been published.
I wonder if anyone in my network can point me to anything relevant on this?
Any podcasters or event organisers who publish videos of talks out there who can offer some advice? Happy to pay for your time, of course.

I enjoy many modern RPGs. But I firmly believe the golden age of #ttrpg design was the 1890s....
Something I found by accident today about #metatext and if you have multiple accounts. If you are in one account, and see something your other account should boost, you can press and hold the boost icon, and then it gives you the option to boost from your other account.
