The holidays is not a time to compromise on principles in order to appease family.

Bigotry and other such awfulness should be confronted whenever it is heard.

Family who don't respect your humanity don't deserve your company.

I just discovered there is such a thing as #Episcopagan and I am here for it.

The holidays can be a really tough time. The advice i often heard was, "Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Help others. Get out of your head." It's perfectly fine advice, but unhelpful if the mere thought of interacting with people is overwhelming. Anyway, here's a thing I did one year that did help:

I bought a Cookie Monster costume, went to the airport, and waited at arrivals with a sign that said "COOKIE"

Didn't have to talk to anyone and boy did I get to watch people's faces light up.

There is *definitely* a need & market for legal guidance / operations rulebooks / user agreement & AUP boilerplate for jurisdictions. “Industry” groups are the model there.

Polite reminder, mastodon users with visual impairments went to a lot of trouble getting people to use the alternative text description facility on image uploads. Spending energy over the past 5 years reminding people in the kindest ways to caption images. Please lets not lose that ethos. There are so many photos without alternative text captions now.
