Magnetic field lines detected by the airborne SOFIA observatory are overlaid on a Hubble image of the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51). Surprisingly, the magnetic field lines in the outer arms do not follow the galaxy's spiral shape. Intense star formation in these outer regions may be causing magnetic chaos, and the gravitational tug of neighboring galaxy NGC 5195 probably also plays a role.

When you boop your cat's pae and the hold on to your finger and start purring 🥺🥰

Couldn't catch the boop, but have a picture of my sleeping cat 🐈

The idea of using large language models for web search seems to me to be a step in the wrong direction. In the last 20 years, web search has become less useful to me. I'm still pining for the days when it was nothing but tf-idf bag-of-words and a ranking algorithm.

Have you ever written computer code? If so, when was the first time, what was the language, and where were you using it? 🤔 ⌨️

question: do you boost posts you disagree with? and if so, why?

when a person I follow boosts people on every side of an issue, or boosts something then subtoots the same post, it kinda confuses me haha

I stopped Glass Onion to explain to my family that the "hydrogen fuel" at the center of the plot doesn't make any sense, but did they appreciate the insight? No, it's all "shut up nerd" this & "start the damn movie" that.

Life is fleeting, no matter how long we live. It's important to make the most of our time and cherish every moment. Embrace opportunities and hold onto loved ones, as we never know when our journey will come to an end. Our time here is limited in this uncertain world.

Or how many digits would you need to remove to make it rational? If you removed all the digits except "1", then it would be rational. But could you make it rational by only removing, say, 7 digits, or 5 digits. And would it matter which digits you remove?

And because I’m half superhero, I also baked bread while painting the bathroom and had my best results in ages.

It’s a sourdough I made with 20% wheat and all whey instead of water. The whey’s leftover from some ricotta I made around Christmas.

It’s also my first time using proper high-protein bread flour in a while, since it’s been hard to find. #sourdough #breadposting #bread #baking #freshbread
