This hairy lady is supposed to be Mary Magdalene. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Mary Magdalene was frequently depicted covered in body hair. You probably have Questions about this, starting with "why" and ending with "WTF". We'll try our best to answer them.

1. "The Ascension of St Mary Magdalene" by an unnamed Danube School painter, circa 1510.
2. "Ascension of Mary Magdalene" by Jan Polak, circa 1500.

the "one hit wonder" phenomenon of the early 80s actually has a business-based origin. the 'sound' of the 70s was passing out of popularity and record execs were scrambling to find the next trend and they would pick up acts and throw their stuff out there and then move on and keep looking bc the industry hadn't come to a "consensus" on the new sound. you can see the same thing in the late 80s/early 90s before grunge hit big and defined the new center of gravity for popular music

However, many other artists favoured a more literal interpretation, and went for a hairy Mary aesthetic.

1. At St John's Church, Toruń, Poland, circa 1415.

POLITICS: US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

#CNN:

"#McCarthy may have nothing to offer the renegades to win their votes. They disdain big committee posts, don’t dream of passing signature bills, don’t care that a majority of the #GOP #House wants McCarthy. For them...chaos is the point. Taking on the 'swamp' gets them booked on talkshows, boosts fundraising & polishes their MAGA credentials."

#Polisci geek here. This is EXACTLY what the #Nazis did to the German legislature during the #Weimar period.

Turns out that Adobe is collecting all of its customers' pictures into a machine learning training set.

This is opt-out, not opt-in so if you use Lightroom, for example, it defaults to adding all of your photos to the set.

If these are unpublished pictures, work-in-progress, etc. they'll still be analysed as soon as they're synced.

I've been using Lightroom to sync photos from my Windows desktop to my iPad. Now I need to reconsider that.

What's a good example of a tech disruptor who got into a space they didn't understand and quickly face planted as a result? I know there have to be examples but I'm blanking on some good ones (mainstream, please, nothing in the sex tech space).

Excellent piece by Parker Molloy tearing down the New Yorker article:

"When you consider the fact that not even the head of the CDC or the President of the US followed the CDC’s guidelines (which don’t require a negative test to resume in-person activities), and you look at some of the other groups that have criticized the CDC’s isolation guidelines ..., it gets harder to see the People’s CDC’s position on the five-day isolation period as conspiracy-minded. Good morning, friends ☕☔

It's raining here this morning, and rain is in the forecast pretty much all day and all night. Fortunately, it's warm, in the 60s (F).
