Just registered my account to Spoutible for one reason only: So that nobody can impersonate as me there.

The service is not usable or sustainable and it's a fact it's based on cheap code called "ColibriSM": codecanyon.net/item/colibrism-

It's funny how people fall for this. I can't even upload an avatar. Those loading animations, glitches and errors tell their own tale. Amazing.

The UI... I could never use a platform this full of accessibility issues, user interface bugs etc. As a visual person the overall look and feel of the service make me nauseous.

Also worth noting: I thought Spoutible was not about limiting what to post? Yet they censor the criticism about the platform.

And THIS, this is what some people prefer over #Mastodon? Yet another centralized attempt and so far the worst. Come on.

As @JosephMenn reports, Russian propagandists are eager buyers of Twitter Blue.

This is because Twitter Blue privileges their posts in Twitter's relevancy algorithm, ensuring their propaganda achieves more reach.

It also gives them a fancy blue badge.

Russian propagandists aren't the only bad hombres buying Twitter Blue. A few months ago, I discovered that the Taliban are also paying for the service.

Twitter Blue: loved by Putin and the Taliban!

Elon Musk just endorsed the Fediverse!

The Dogecoin guy stated that nobody who uses Mastodon has anything worth hearing anyway.

Musk ostensibly agreed, then replied with, "(hoping they stay there🤞)"

So there you have it!

Elon Musk wants us all to leave Twitter and stay here!

Quite the show that the #sky is putting on tonight over #Poynton #UK with a crescent #Moon, #Jupiter and #Venus all trying to to steal the show.

Who's the winner?

America’s legal system today

I want to practice law:
—You need a 4 year Bachelors, take the LSAT, then a 3 year JD, then pass the BAR, buy malpractice insurance, & total cost is ~$300K

I want to enforce the law:
—Here’s paid 13-week training & a gun

I want to write the law:
—No qualifications needed and a billionaire can buy you a seat

More detail has emerged, & it's more damning for Norfolk Southern & other railroads: Railroad workers have spent years in a contract battle to change the conditions that produced the disaster in Ohio: dangerously long and heavy trains, skeleton crews, punishing hours, and an all-around cost-cutting approach that puts profits over workers’ health & the safety of the public-: therealnews.com/this-was-preve

I posted on this US Copyright Office decision on the status of . Just some initial thoughts, as I haven't read the whole memo in detail.

in a moment of lovely synchronicity i rediscovered this David Byrne quote today.

"It can often seem that those in power don’t want us to enjoy making things for ourselves—they’d prefer to establish a cultural hierarchy that devalues our amateur efforts and encourages consumption rather than creation."

Fabion The Great had swum these airs for countless eons--since mice and men swarmed in great schools through the clouds--but her days, she feared, were numbered.

As the years rolled by, over harvesting had thinned her prey's numbers. But recently, the mice had taken to armoring not only their bodies, but entire houses; floating warships big enough to protect mice and their hairless apes alike, and far too big to drift through even the broadest baleens.

@ewdocparris The brief-switching prank popular at Nemo Aeronautics had never been funny, but this time it was definitely going to be the end of someone's career. Each department had received a completely different order for this, their biggest project ever. Only when it was finally assembled -- just minutes before launch thanks to the bosses' "just in time" ethos -- did it become evident how badly mixed up it was; it also had no steering mechanism. It would just float at random.

Everyone knows that the US strategy for dealing with #COVID19 was... messy. In this new short article, @efarris & I point to right-wing extremism among county #sheriffs as a specific obstacle to a healthy, functioning federal system.

Tldr; right-wing extremism among sheriffs is associated w their refusal to enforce mask mandates. It is a danger to democracy.

I was lucky enough to get an e-ARC of Karen Healey's first romantic fantasy novella for adults, Bespoke and Bespelled, and it's delightful! I enjoyed every moment of it. You can read my rave review here: goodreads.com/review/show/5366

Finally it was complete! The Skywhale Masquerade Project was flying at last!
Jackie took the helm, and gave the orders "Cast off! Power to tail, one third!" The majestic vessel slowly moved off, leaving the tenders behind.
"Radar! Report!"
George replied "We are clear. Scouts report a herd 1500km SSE"
"Altering course 135 degrees port."
Now they would be able to get inside one of the herds, and really see what was going on, without the guardian whales attacking.
She hoped.
