@david Good to know Abt Midjiurney policy. Here is a joke for you:
In a users grp meeting, a visitor observed seasoned members uttering some gibberish, then others responding w admiring appreciation. But then, for one such exchange a person took a little time and then gushed. So the visitor asked the host and got the reply "this is the first time he has heard this particular parameter set.

Shamelessly ripped a joke about comedy club. You must have heard it - about jokes being numbered.

Livorno is an Italian port city on the west coast of Tuscany. It's known for its seafood, Renaissance-era fortifications and modern harbor with a cruise ship port. Its central Terrazza Mascagni, a waterside promenade with checkerboard paving, is the city's main gathering place. The bastions of the 16th-century Fortezza Vecchia face the harbor and open onto Livorno's canal-laced Venezia Nuova quarter.

US Customs officer: "What were you doing in Mexico today?"

Me: [enthusiastically]"Counting beavers! We're doing a binational beaver survey on the San Pedro River."

Guard: "Are you with that other guy?"

Me: "Probably! There were a few of us that came down from Tucson."

Guard: "Have a nice day."

I've always got a weird — but also true! — answer for the Customs people. I guess they figure no drug smuggler would bother making something like that up, so they wave me through.

Londoners and London-lovers: please suggest some (non-obvious) cool things in London to do in March. (I’m insisting on lots of time at the British Museum, and on the Mithraeum, and my wife wants the Harry Potter tour). I’ve been there, wife and daughter have not, son is going to school there.

I'm borrowing "The long way to a small, angry planet" by Becky Chambers from a friend right now, and I'm a quarter of the way through. My stars, is it imaginative! So, that's my #Bookstodon report for the week.

Recently someone expressed an interest in buying some of my artwork. I have paintings stuffed in every closet and corner of my small place. So this week I took new photos of everything with my I-phone and threw up a temporary web portfolio with a shitload of paintings for him to look at.

I'm a self taught "Outsider" artist and I put a lot of work into my paintings. I'd love to get some feedback/criticism! If you want to see, follow this link:

Pratchett said it best about human beings and stories

“All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"

MY POINT EXACTLY.”

🐈‍💨 is my new emoji proposal for ChatGPT, based on the (already widely mentioned) French pronunciation "chat: j’ai pété" = "cat: I farted".
(Emojis are cat facing to the left followed by puff of wind heading to the right)

At the time of its loss in 1930 the Artiglio was both the world's most advanced salvage vessel and, briefly, the most surprised.

It turns out trying to demolish a wreck full of explosives by using lots more explosives might result in some kind of explosion. If only there had been some sort of warning...

NZ is about to experience a THIRD "once-in-a-thousand-year" flood in a few weeks. When are we going to get serious about slashing emissions? When are we going to stop greenwashing and actually cut emissions?
