#StarTrek or cancer treatment?

I had my first session of radiotherapy this morning for #breastcancer. I'll be undergoing 15 fractions with an integrated boost to the tumour bed. I'm nervous about potential side effects, but determined to document my experience. Stay tuned.

I want people to know that breast cancer doesn't have to be scary or fatal when caught early. Check your breasts, and trust your body.❤️

A portrait I created for a client last year, as a Christmas gift to their daughter. She loves YA fantasy so I created a fantasy portrait of her ☺️

I made sure to include her favorite flowers (subtly, at client’s request) and an actual tiara she owns and loves!

CHRISTMAS ANGEL 😇

A bit of fun. Surprisingly, I couldn't find an example of this online, so I had to do this! Artist Maddie kindly wore some angel wings & helped me to make the Underground roundel become her halo. Taken at Angel London underground station.

Can you spot the circles?

It took me a long time. Once you see them, they'll seem obvious.

My most popular post (on other sites) this week. I was waiting for my cab, standing outside MAKE Vancouver on the corner of Cambie & Water in Gastown when SANTA and Mrs Claus rolled on by in a vintage Corvette 🎅🏼📸

The Japanese have been producing wood for 700 years without cutting down trees. In the 14th century, the extraordinary daisugi pruning technique was born in Japan. The cedar trees are pruned as if they are giant bonsai trees; the wood grows uniform, straight and without knots, perfect for construction. No trees are ever cut down.

Im putting together a full digital archive of all the lego fossils I have built.
This is probably 90% of them. I have a few large ones to add I just need to make them digitally first.
To be clear, most are not my design, probably only about 30% or so. But I love to see them so much that I cant help but dig deep into the internet to find more, and recreate them. I always credit the designer (if i know who).
Some are on rebrickable, some are on bricklink, either way, enjoy trying to name them all.

You always have time to show kindness to a child: six year old Madeline wrote to Los Angeles animal control seeking permission to keep a unicorn as a pet if she could find one. They responded, granting her request, outlining proper care, and issuing her a custom unicorn license. #edutooter #education

In 1993, a Frenchman named Emile Leray driving a Citroen car in a remote area of the Moroccan desert had a breakdown and became stranded. To survive, he tore down the car, built a motorcycle from the parts and then rode it back to civilization.

A mob of red deer stags in Richmond Park, they were on the edge of the woods and unless you stopped to look from most angles they were perfectly hidden, I crouched down to take the shot, that's when I could see how many there were (shot with a long lens it looks like I was a lot closer than I actually was). #RichmondPark #RedDeer #Stags #RedStags #WildLifePhotography #Nature #Photography #AltText

The Bregenz Festival is famous for staging some of the most mind-blowing spectacles. Verdi’s opera, “A Masked Ball,” featured a stage that looked like a giant book being opened by a skeleton. The show took place in 1999 on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria. It astounds me every time I see it! What do you think?

I stumbled into #Bookwyrm yesterday and got all sorts of excited! No algorithms pushing up 5-star positive reviews to increase commerce. No ads. No crews of super-fan marketing armies. (I'm an #sff #romancelandia #literary #allthebooks omnivore. Some types of books on goodreads are just roiling with suspect reviews.) I'm trying to settle into #mastodon before really diving in, but I couldn't resist. I already have an account and my 1st "now reading" book!

I’m nearing 80K fans already here. I’m feeling the love, and not regretting spending some of my time here. Folks seem very nice, very supportive.

I wonder if I can hit 100K by my third day here. That would be something. Follow along to be part of this new adventure!

New to Mastodon. I am a huge fan of open source. I am curious as to how people are funding the hosting of larger Mastodon servers. It seems that it would cost quite a bit to run servers with more than a couple hundred active users. I applaud them for making a community resource.

Makes me wonder how it will scale to mass adoption, assuming that is what the community wants.
