They have not reached consensus on the proper direction of flow for the path. Thus, the paca jam.

Another "puzzle extravaganza for a cause" just dropped.

Puzzles for Democracy is a set of 51 puzzles for every state in the country plus D.C. -- including crosswords, word games, logic puzzles and more.

Not solved them yet, but I think it's reasonable to assume they're mainly aimed at American solvers.

Among the constructors are lots of my favorites (see tags below).

Saul Leiter

Snow, 1960

By the way, there is a wonderful documentary on Saul Leiter called “In No Great Hurry.” I rented it from Apple some time ago, but I assume it’s available to watch in a few places at this point. Most highly recommended, 10/10 if you are a photographer or a fan of egolessness and vision.

To see more of my #photos there's a link to my #PhotoBook, which has over 70 photos of #NewEngland, as well as my Instagram in my bio.

#boosts are appreciated.

For quite some time, I've been fiddling around with numerically evaluating the Painlevé transcendent. On a lark, I decided to visualize the solution \(w(z))\ of Painlevé I, \(w''=6w^2+z\) with the condition \(w(0)=0\), and the value of \(w'(0)\) continuously varying in the complex plane. I could only do a small portion for now, but it should be interesting to see the whole forest of poles dance.

Any experienced programmer worth their salt will tell you that •producing• code — learning syntax, finding examples, combining them, adding behaviors, adding complexity — is the •easy• part of programming.

The hard part: “How can it break? How will it surprise us? How will it change? Does it •really• accomplish our goal? What •is• our goal? Are we all even imagining the same goal? Do we understand each other? Will the next person to work on this understand it? Should we even build this?”

The weekend boil at Sugar Roof Maple, Hinesburg Division. Four gallons, Fancy to “B” (my favorite; more flavor).

I LEFT THE HOUSE! It was glorious.

*not shown, my boot filled with icy-cold water after breaking through an unexpectedly deep puddle.

**also not shown, the -15° windchill.

***also also not shown, the three hr nap I needed to recover.

Don't care. I LEFT THE HOUSE.
