Finally going through a box of slides left over from my parents’ house. I’m looking at these slides, which haven’t been touched in 50 years, through a Pana-Vue 2 slide viewer whose bulb still works! These photos from 1970 are sharp, bright, and clear through the slide viewer. They look like they could have been taken with someone’s cell phone camera today. Unlike the photo prints from that period, they haven’t faded at all. They’re beautiful. The photo of the slide doesn’t do it justice.

My youngest kids are 9 years old. Almost 10! I just spent an hour removing the glue that held on the child locks to keep the freezer closed. Nothing like moving to get you to do the jobs you have been putting off for 8 years.

Update: My mom “Millie” will start cancer treatment this month and a recent scan confirm it has not spread.🙏🏽

It’s her second battle with Cancer and we are confident she will BEAT IT🥊

🗣️Cancer doesn’t care about us, so we need to care about each other.

I cleared my profile on Artstation and tbh I feel relieved.

Trust in the site that you leave your property on is vital. If that trust is broken, there's nothing holding you there.

It's been my main art hub since the first beta signups
A shame to let it go ... onto new shores then :D

Good morning from me and these reading-therapy dogs in training 🐶😍.

Our last cat, Casper Weinberger. This was a long time ago and she was ancient but loved this bed by the pellet stove.
I like this photo because it's a bit like she's floating.

Ok, so now that I’ve had a moment to breathe, let me take a few minutes to dive into the study I just published about Russian involvement in the 2022 truck convoy in Canada. The study can be read in full here: journals.lib.sfu.ca/index.php/

Bird pins made of scrap materials by Japanese Americans held in internment camps during World War II.

From The Art of Gaman: Arts & Crafts from the Japanese American Internment Camps 1942-1946 by Delphine Hirasuna (Ten Speed Press, 2005).

Gaman is a Japanese term of Zen Buddhist origin which means “enduring the seemingly unbearable with patience and dignity”.

I usually roll my eyes a bit when people opine about generalizable lessons from infamous software death marches like the Air Traffic Control revamp or the Denver airport baggage control horror¹, but this piece was surprisingly interesting & informative.

Yeah, the power mix for the New England #grid is using oil right now! I don't think that's usually a thing. And the spot price is pretty high. I'm sure Green Mountain Power is enjoying having our #solar come into the mix. #electricity #vermont

The lowest ever recorded temperature in the US was hit today in Mount Washington, New Hampshire wind of -78°C (-108°F)! It even *looks* cold!

I made this photo on a riverbank. I found some charcoal and started to draw faces on pebbles resulting in this black white image. #blackwhite #photography #nature #charcoal #faces #AYearForArt #pebbles #riverbank #contrast #funny

A black cat is on the prowl in the green grass in my garden. It's our neighbours cat visiting the mice in our garden. She is looking at me with her big green eyes as if she was saying "What do you want, please don't disturb me!". This cat portrait is painted with acrylic paint in bold expessionistic brushstrokes.

The Arctic blast in the northeastern U.S.& Canada reminded me of this #ClimateChange comic from nearly a decade ago by @rosemarymosco of Bird and Moon Comics. rosemarymosco.com/ #weather
