Twitter appears to have stopped third party Twitter apps from accessing Twitter, without any warning or explanation. The reason Twitter can do this is because they control twitter.com and there are no other servers to choose from.

This kind of instant shutdown cannot happen on Mastodon or the Fediverse, because there are thousands of independent servers running on free open software standards.

This is why third party apps are so much more widely used on Mastodon and the Fediverse.

If Elon Musk can afford to lose $200 billion in a single year, he can afford a wealth tax.

Just checked an ÖBB night train from Aachen to Vienna. On a mid week day (usually cheaper), mid class sleeping compartment and 4 months in advance booking = ~260€ round trip
Direct fliegt from Köln to Vienna, 1,30h, round trip = 65€

Travelling by train only something for idealists and people with principles while having enough money?

How about to turn it around? 65€ for train and 260€ for the flight… would also fit to the time saving.

Manche Menschen verstehen einfach nicht, was die Klimaforschung sagt: in 7 (!!!) Jahren müssen die CO2-Emissionen halbiert sein, um das Pariser Abkommen einzuhalten. Also nicht studieren & forschen, sondern Ausstieg aus fossilen & EE-Ausbau sofort sind notwendig!

The data from 2022 is stark, however you look at it. Whether you view the raw figures, or see another red line added to the climate stripes, the message is clear. Excess heat is building up across the planet at a rate unprecedented in the history of humanity.

This should be a cause for alarm, but not alarmism. 2022 was hot, but when you realise that those 12 months will likely be one of the coolest years of the rest of our lives, I think we will regret not having acted sooner on these warnings.

This was a multidisciplinary study addressing #smokers' #behavior and aquatic toxicity of the #filters #fibers #leachates.

Via unobtrusive observations of 100s of smokers, we found that younger smokers and those in groups were more likely to litter the butts. Number of ashtrays mattered a bit too (more = less littering).

Butts are littered no matter which preventative measure are taken.
