The dutch government now has an official Mastodon instance, this gives government organisations and institutions the chance to have an official account in the fediverse. The instance is not for all citizens wanting to join Mastodon. I hope more governments will follow because the fediverse gives them the possibilty to fully control the data , no advertising etc.

My latest: NASA has downgraded plans for its next-generation #climate mission, the Atmosphere Observing System, even as the two landmark satellites it will succeed, Calipso and CloudSat, go dark.

The decision, driven by cost concerns, will degrade efforts to study the interaction of aerosols, clouds, and rain near the Earth's surface -- and uncertainties about the future speed of global warming.
