Most certainly not. What aviation does is make holidays more CO2 intensive. People just "book a flight" to the cheap resorts at the other end of the world. And why not, if the price for a return ticket to go to India is only 800€ but you save 2000€ on hotels compared to, say staying in Europe.

Aviation may be relatively efficient on a person-kilometer basis, but it excessively extends the length of trips. Full stop.

When we fret about inflation, we need to remember why it happened in the first place.

@LouisIngenthron
That'd be good: less pilots would mean higher salaries, would mean higher prices too.

Just a few ground-breaking discoveries my HI (human intelligence) algorithms brought in recent research:

* Fly less (maybe that business trip could've been a conference call or an e-mail)
* Use trains instead of planes where possible
* Use the train instead of the plane to get to lay-over airport
* Raise taxes on fuel to make half-empty flights un-economical for shareholders

These algos are incredible!

Let's be honest, universities use their social media profiles only for broadcasting, i.e., advertisements.

What does it say about our universities if corporations like IBM, Apple or Sony find X so revolting they stop advertising there, but our universities do not find X revolting enough to leave?

This is a big deal:

The W3C, founded in 1994 by web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, has quit X and declared the fediverse to be their primary social media channel. Follow them at: @w3c

Show thread

Show thread

Show thread

Show thread
