Morning! I always keep discussions of ancient goldsmiths non-gender specific because truth is we just don't know & words can be leading!
There were female goldsmiths in Medieval London & some even had own gold marks. If prehistoric goldworkers were working in small specialised, groups/families then it would be strange for women not to be involved.
I've always loved this by Tom Björklund of a Bronze Age metalworker. Do look at his work: it's incredible.

A glorious day to be out an about in #EppingForest.
During lockdown I spent so much time in the forest but it's been a while since I've managed a decent walk amongst the trees. Left it a bit late in the day to get started but managed to cover a fair amount of (soggy) ground.
There's a Welsh phrase "Dod yn ôl at fy nghoed" which can be translated as "To return to my trees" and means to return to one’s senses and a balanced state of mind.
Bit of a behind the scenes photo - torcs are obviously 2300ish years old, utterly precious and totally irreplaceable.
So when they're moved, even a short distance, they're packed snugly and safely!
Happy Friday all...I hope you're packed snugly and safely whenever you move today! 😉

I like learning how things are made, trying to make things, and sometimes trying to do a good job. I love to eat, perform light labor in the garden or around the house, and consume scifi.
