Twitter

@neurobongo I have seen in other’s posts that there may be tools to migrate your account including those who you follow if you do move instances. Don’t hold me to it and I’m not sure if there is still something that gets lost in the move.

I picked the instance I’m on and I feel I’m pretty lucky. I think there are a couple thousand active users so the local timeline is full but there isn’t so much content that it’s a firehose.

I hope it works out for you here and welcome back! I just happily deactivated my Twitter account last night.

Hi, @Madahin! I am also interested in embedded development and am just starting out.

What type of games do you make? It’s something I want to do some day but for now I love watching the games people make and the wide variety of game engines out there.

@pseudoramble Thank you, Doug, I’m glad to be here. :) By the way I really like your handle, pseudoramble! Very cool!

Since on Mastodon there's a higher chance of non-followers seeing this, I might as well do an #introduction :)

Hi, I'm Arturo, I tinker with #electronics, #pcb, #kicad, #firmware, #opensource, #openhardware

I'm the founder of a company named Solder Party, if you're in the electronics community, you might've seen my stuff. Everything I release is open source, SW and HW.

Welcome @jmft! My account is only 2 days older! :) The local community on qoto has been really helpful and welcoming and I’ve enjoyed the wide range of content on the wider Fediverse so far!

I hope your experience here is great too!

Helpful #feditip for following hashtags!

- Enable the advanced web interface in Settings > Preferences > Appearance. this gives you a Tweetdeck-esque multicolumn layout

- Search for/click on a hashtag and it'll add a new column for that single hashtag.

- Click on the settings for that new column and enable "Include additional tags for this column" and add any related ones

- Now you have a permafeed for hashtags!

(This doesn't work on iOS, as far as I can tell)

@shrestha I actually disagreed with someone without feeling a bit of animosity and I was polite about it. On a personal level I do feel the calm you’re talking about and I’m enjoying being curious about other’s opinions again. :)

@drdrowland yep and the availability of software was too much to ignore for me. :)

@drdrowland What is your overall impression of Windows 11? I am usually a linux diehard but I actually like it.

I bought a really cheap laptop so there have been some hiccups like on the start menu it says “There are no power options” when try to shut it down. It kind of reminds me of the old days when I couldn’t configure wifi in Linux.

@jferg I’m sure good old Musk will do his part of the job. It sounds crazy over there right now with the massive firings and other antics.

Hopefully the influx will continue and for every couple of people who don’t end up staying one person will. :)

Hello, I’m new to the QOTO and the Fediverse and want to introduce myself.

I’m currently making a career transition to software engineering. I have worked in Python a little bit in the past year and am currently starting to use C. My interest/area of work is although I’m very new to it and software engineering in general. I am going back to school to get an Associates in Computer Engineering to hopefully fill in some gaps that I have.

Outside of work I am slowly working on a using the framework in Python. I also enjoy spending time with my kids by going on walks around town. My oldest son just started cubscouts and I am glad he is enjoying camping because it’s something I have always enjoyed too!

I’m looking forward to connecting with other people here and on other Mastodon servers too.

A new #introduction because there's another rush on SDF Mastodon due to External Events:

I am a professional computer scientist and educator in computer science and engineering. I love #retrocomputing and old tech, #HamRadio, and #programming.

For those on @SDF, welcome to #SDF, please leave the place better than you found it. We have a great community here.

If you're on another instance, welcome to the #fediverse, please respect each other and our instance.

@stux I stopped posting on twitter because everything seemed to end up in an argument

Feeling real chipper on here at the mo ☺️

One thing that really stood out to me about this current #TwitterMigration is that the people who are migrating are such wonderful and loving people who are just looking for a better digital home :blobcatsnuggle: ❤️

I mean, in the past we've had more migrations but not always very plessant so to say😇

But this time I am so happy to see we already have much in common :fediverse: :cat_hug_triangle:

This makes our lives as admins a lot easier, trust me! :blobcathearts: Thank you

@mycroft@paws.town I’m new here and this is actually a very good . There are a lot of features like hashtags that were not encouraged on Twitter. The content warning is a new one and I need to figure out how to use it.

Also, not much fun leaving a platform to then keep lending it your attention. Maybe absence will make my heart grow fonder but we will see.

Just came across this on the birdsite and am resharing it here because this just made me go "OMG yes!"

@transponderings Chief Twit pushed me hear but the other reason is I am finding the content great. I also like the ability to write longer posts. Not everything needs to be a sound byte anymore and I tend to ramble anyway.

A poll for recent arrivals in the Fediverse (please boost/repost)
