Mastodon has been sucking away all my time, it's worse than reddit!

(which is great, means there's a ton of interesting people here)

Found out how to generate linker map files in IAR for Eclipse and had a date night with my wife. Great way to end the week!

👋 #introduction @ ruby.social

I'm Lewis - I live in the middle of the USA (Missouri) because I enjoy being close to family. However I often feel like a software guy among farmers and hunters with very little relatable conversation locally.

I really enjoy working in #ruby, although as a consultant I practice many programming languages and find different joys in each of them.

I've found some community through the bird, but hoping to enhance that through Mastadon.

I jusst realised that I never actually made an #introduction since I joined the fediverse.
My name is Ádám (I'm fine with Adam too).
I like playing with #technology, especially if it's #opensource.
I like #programming, and mostly use #java, #javascript and #python.
I also care about #privacy and #security.
I'm into #gaming, but I don't play many games. Mostly #minecraft.

@derickflorian LOL. I'm glad you guys beat the bucs too. Anytime Tom Brady loses, the world wins.

@thelinuxcast Haha, no, the Steelers have been very good a lot of years so you can’t win them all. Just glad they beat the Buccaneers.

We have a solitary Eagles fan in my office and I think he still has a plaque that says “Hungry dogs run faster” at his desk. :)

@thelinuxcast As a Pittsburgh I’m glad it’s a bye week for the Steelers. It’s the best they’ll do all season😂

@ink8@the9thcircle.club @josemanuel yeah, honestly fuck that person who said that. I’m sorry you have to out up with people like that. I cannot imagine how that would feel.

@kingu_platypus_gidora haha, that is ridiculous. In my second job at my current company they made me take a personality because I wasn’t given one the first time. I felt like saying “I’ve been here three years, you already know I’m crazy!”

@josemanuel totally, they have the right to say it but it doesn’t make it less objectionable and stupid in my opinion. They can say what they want and I will think of them accordingly.

@astrojuanlu For sure, sorry I was just spitballing. The closest I can think of is to check if it’s less than 3.11. If it is then import inspect.getargspec.

If not do something like

inspect.getargspec = def blank_func():
pass

Since it’s python you can redefine it to just do nothing.

Working on a breakout for a little LTE modem right now. Hoping to make something extremely low-cost for development using one of these cheap NB-IoT chips coming out of Quectel lately. It's my first proper project using and I'm loving it so far!

Is there a #python tool to automatically take a Python codebase and make it compatible with 3.11 *without dropping older versions*? (Hence: pyupgrade doesn't work for me IIUC)

In particular, I'm dealing with a project that uses `inspect.getargspec`, deprecated since Python 3.0 and finally removed in Python 3.11.
