@rosiek Hello, and welcome to Qoto.

Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-gu

We also have another new users guide, posted here : write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggesti

Casey Rollins made a video to explain the Fediverse, here :

"I made this video awhile back to help explain how the works."

@chrism Geeez, I wish. Freeking suckers of processor time and RAM.

But Freemo wants to be in Googlez. LOL. 😜

@freemo

I love @pinafore. It has a simple and uncluttered UI, it is *absurdly* fast, and yet it retains all the main features of Mastodon. Also, the golden standard for webapps: it does not break the back button in the browser. What a beautiful piece of software you created here, @nolan, thank you!

@apLundell
Glad to have found this, Andy -- it's one of my personal favourite issues as well.

Having the wide displays in desktops, laptops and only using part of them (single column mode) or too many columns doesn't please me.

I made a Forum topic with some ideas -- a Two panel for me is ideal, one with one of the Feeds, the other with Notifications.

With help from a Firefox Add-on by Eskuero, it can fill the whole screen -- and give me a Reply Toot Editor anywhere on screen when I click a reply arrow.

Would love if you have any comments -- here : discourse.qoto.org/t/mastodon-

I wish this functionality was added to the AWI function, it's a great desktop for Readers and Writers.

@Gargron

@gargron Multi-columns are the best part of Mastodon.

Forget decentralization, or open source, or focusing on good user experience, the important thing is efficient use of screen real-estate. That is my religion.

I like Dark Themes, so thank you for providing a real Black one. One problem I noticed when trying it -- I cannot see the Star denoting the currently active instance on Settings -- Instances.

That makes it hard for me to use, as I do switch between various ones frequently. Would be lost without a highlight on the active one.

Like on this snapshot -- one of them is active. Which ?

@stevegenoud

@nolan That was a nice post, which I have used in describing what Pinafore is. Another year is gone by, maybe a second article is coming?

Thanks for the great work, Nolan.

For my first post today, I want to send a bouquet to Nolan, the developer of the Pinafore web app for Mastodon and Pleroma. Thanks for creating such a brilliant freedom-respecting UX!

Using Pinafore Client while connected to TOR network

In a post addressed to Nolan Lawson, Pinafore’s author, @Sphinx requested some help – he was having an error when trying to login to Qoto.org using his Pinafore client.

He posted a screenshot of the error message.

The error message seems to indicate an error storing data locally – on the user’s machine.

A new article on our Pinafore Discussions Forum at Qoto.org.

@joaopinheiro@mastodon.social

Give it a try, see if you like. Plus -- you get the extra features of Glitch-Social in both of those.

I have been making formatted posts there, and it's night and day difference.

Lovely for any serious work, where layout is important.
@rgx

@hansw in an earlier conversation today, Ingo mentioned that his instance offers xmpp chat services.

Maybe use these (requires an account there)?
