@vnarek Hello, and welcome to Qoto.

Enjoy the network and all it has to offer. Don't know if you need but - why not mention ?

If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: https://lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-mastodon-1828503235

We also have another new users guide, posted here : https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggestions-and-guidelines-for-new-users-written-by-mastodon-art-administrator

@promad Hello and welcome to Qoto.

Could you please explain, what is the content of that site you are linking to? is it an institution, or a business entity?

I visited, but the language is not familiar to me. Thank you!

@thecosmicawakening That is a good post, thank you!

I agree that an all seeing entity could not be intervening in all things. Well done.

@EVoCeO You should ask Dr Freeman, he's a Python programmer, besides many other talents.

@freemo I did mention a specific account in our chain of DM discussions, and started a Discourse thread for this here : https://discourse.qoto.org/t/suggestion-extending-advertising-non-allowance-policy-to-encompass-political-propaganda-posts/214

...where the specific account is not named, but I can provide that easily; didn't include it as we need a general discussion and policy, but I do see this already present here. Arteteco is contacting that specific user and inquiring.

@freemo I have already mentioned what I see as a Propaganda account, and I think it will only get worse.

To keep our sanity and our civility, plus the content the instance aims for, I suggest we need to plan and react quickly if this kind of user account (non-participating, partisan, adversarial, and completely alienated from STEM field or topics) pop up.

I would like a clear line - like we have for Advertsing, account removed immediately upon staff discretion. Reports to be kept, logs as usual, as we will respond for our actions as usual.

Propaganda is Advertising to the nth degree. Goebbels was the master mind of much we see nowadays.

"Trump's 'juggernaut' re-election bid like the Death Star, campaign boss boasts

Brad Parscale raises eyebrows with Star Wars comparison
‘In a few days we start pressing FIRE for the first time’

...and the lovely final paragraphs :

"For all its perceived might, however, the Death Star was actually destroyed, as many pointed out on Twitter, while Gary Whitta, a screenwriter who co-wrote the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, offered further information.

“You do understand that the people who built the Death Star were the bad guys, right?” Whitta wrote.

“Also they lost.”

Death Star campaign coming up. Tighten Hatches, we will see people coming here to push Propaganda.

Not looking forward to it, freaking Circus that it is.

"I have a question: a lot of Chinese SNS immigrantmas to end up choosing a qoto example, is this really appropriate? (Not a question, just a question When I was going to move from pawoo, I didn't think about qoto.org, and Finally saw the example of "A Mastodon to instance for source in Science, Technolog......"

Important pointing out that we are currently havign a discussion and it's likely we will be limiting posts in Foreign languages which our Moderation team is not knowledgeable.

This is a pending discussion and change, but I would advise anyone primarily posting in non-european languages we will be moving in that direction -- it's just impossible to have the whole world posting native languages and monitor and moderate these.

Thank you! (I am one of the local mods)

Some really interesting reading on this page -- how SPAM was very important to feed the military of VARIOUS countries during WWII, along with people on the Home front in Allied countries.

@sd It is a good idea to go to Preferences and do a Backup of your Following list -- not only for peace of mind, but also if you start an account in another instance, or move there altogether.

The import feature allows a Restore (here) or adding the whole saved list (in another new account).
