Lightly edited for Blog publishing, adding links and references only, content was ready. The views in the post are my own, I believe they reflect values which make instances vibrant and pleasant places to be in.

Staff at Qoto.org are always scouting for new Talent, and open to suggestions, comments.

Adding new Staff members is good for all communities -- it's a labour of love, we do it for the fun, the pleasure of seeing things growing up, a nice social climate growing.

I would like to invite any Active user at Qoto (or in the Fediverse at large, if you decided to join us) to consider if they would like to help.

@design_RG @rgx @joaopinheiro I run several GlitchSoc instances to choose from: https://muensterland.social , https://mstdn.es , https://mastodon.bayern , https://social.dev-wiki.de (Part of GGC Project,I'm part of the admin team), https://toot.koeln (I'm only the server admin,not the owner).All of them allow 5000 chars per post because this 500 chars limit is nonsense.You can't have any detailed discussions with only 500 chars.There are already workarounds,meaning threads with many short post answering to each other,but why?!Just set a limit that allows real discussions and there's no need for workarounds anymore.Migrating to GlitchSoc is very easy: https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/ and you can raise your limit by simply adding MAX_TOOT_CHARS=5000 to your .env.production.

I love @pinafore. It has a simple and uncluttered UI, it is *absurdly* fast, and yet it retains all the main features of Mastodon. Also, the golden standard for webapps: it does not break the back button in the browser. What a beautiful piece of software you created here, @nolan, thank you!

@gargron Multi-columns are the best part of Mastodon.

Forget decentralization, or open source, or focusing on good user experience, the important thing is efficient use of screen real-estate. That is my religion.

Using Pinafore Client while connected to TOR network

In a post addressed to Nolan Lawson, Pinafore’s author, @Sphinx requested some help – he was having an error when trying to login to Qoto.org using his Pinafore client.

He posted a screenshot of the error message.

The error message seems to indicate an error storing data locally – on the user’s machine.
