I'm not sure what is worse:

1. Neither DORA nor CoARA seem to be much concerned with such open violations of their rules and principles. From their replies to me, I got the impression they are just happy they exist and can pretend to do something, but they seem to have no concern at all about their effectiveness.

Cosmism is “pervasive in science fiction—seen in topics from space colonization to immortalism, superhumans, the singularity, & mind uploading.
Cosmism’s contribution to the TESCREAL ideology is a secular quasi-religion with an implied destiny—colonize Mars and then the galaxy, achieve immortality—that provides billionaires with justification for self-enrichment.”

There’s no such thing as an autonomous vehicle. Our paper here, based on 50 interviews https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/03063127211038752 h...

It comes as no surprise that "ChatGPT struggles to answer medical questions"
"ChatGPT provided accurate responses to only about 10 of the questions, or about a quarter of the total. For the other 29 prompts, the answers were incomplete or inaccurate, or they did not address the questions."
"Those queries, they found, often yielded inaccurate – or even dangerous – responses."

If Aryeh Yitzhak King, Jerusalem Deputy Mayor, truly called for "bulldozers" to be "given the order to cover all these hundreds of ants, while they're still alive", does anyone need further proof that Israeli officials now feel free openly to call for CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY?

Storia breve:

Another utterly ridiculous statement: the Italian #ANVUR, which is appointed by the government and relies heavily on government and proprietary bibliometrics, would be an instance of responsible research assessment. Read this article and academic.oup.com/rev/advance-a and to check whether the ANVUR has anything to do with "self-regulation and softlaw" see here: aisa.sp.unipi.it/taking-all-th

While the Italian university, in spite of #COARA, is not able to overcome proprietary and governmental bibliometric, the #Sorbonne University unsubscribes from the Web of Science (a.k.a. ISI or Clarivate Analytics). to work with #OpenAlex (and open data). sorbonne-universite.fr/en/news

It is an enormous disservice to the public to report on this as if it were a "debate" rather than a disruption of science by billionaires throwing ...

@associazione-italiana-per-la-promozione-della-scienza-aperta Just one remark: If #COARA wants to be taken seriously, it has to cope with the question of members (even sitting on its steering board) that do non honor their commitments. #OpenScience

"Two conflicting messages are thus being presented. One being that the future of AI capabilities present such a significant risk, that an exclusive nuclear-level regulatory licensing scheme is required, but also that existing systems do not warrant any regulation, despite well-documented harms, and deemed insignificant."
