@sil oh, that's odd. None of my 'non standard' devices auto mount, even if opened before (Kubuntu 22.04 LTS)
@sil nope. Still love Sublime
@sil if the disk doesn't auto mount (default for non boot / home is not too) then it's up to root to decide to automount it eg fstab
Welp, looks like the Tories in London have given up on any pretence at wanting to keep Scotland in the union:
.... Either that or they're planning to introduce Direct Rule after they dissolve the Scottish Parliament. Which is their only hope of suppressing the shit-storm this is going to provoke north of the border.
(All in the name of waging a spurious culture war against LGBT+ folks.)
Explanatory note: Scotland is muh less transphobic than England. The Tories have staked their voter "appeal" on going full right wing transphobic. Scotland's parliament just voted to allow self-certification of your gender, without medical intervention … and the Tories are going to use a constitutional nuclear option to veto it (blocking the royal assent).
Scottish independence was polling 52-56% support. But the Tories just threw gasoline on the fire.

@seb_ly fuckers
New "Rendering like it's 1996" blog post is out. This time we'll suffer from DOS Nostalgia and learn more about bitmap fonts than we ever wanted to know.

@zak maybe it's "buying what you know works" so not the same as "does random graphics card work".
@zak dell and thinkpad, laptops and desktop. Amazon Ec2's. Haven't had a single hardware issue with Linux in over a decade. WiFi, keyboard backlight, finger print scanners, secondary displays - it all just works
@raymondcamden Global Thermonuclear War? Or would you prefer a nice game of chess?

If I delete my twitter account some jackass can swipe my name. So not going there. If it stays inactive for too long it might be deleted anyway, so I'm going to tweet a single character once a month. And I'll also use it for commercial announcements—new books, convention appearances, and so on.
But as a social outlet, @cstross@twitter is now defunct. @cstross is my home now.
(I reserve the right to reconsider this policy once @elonmusk fucks the hell off.)

The Home Office has asked charity Freedom from Torture to remove a video showing UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman telling a Holocaust survivor that she “won’t apologise” for describing refugees as “swarms” and “an invasion”.
Any #Linux nerds able to help me with an irritating #Flatpak problem?
https://github.com/flathub/com.calibre_ebook.calibre/issues/153
For some reason, #Calibre doesn't have any window decorations and my mouse cursor is the wrong size. This is the only Flatpak which acts this way. Any clues on what incantation I need to fix it?
