@brianleroux welcome to a world. A different world. A world where 8% of your users use a dead browser.

There seems to be another wave of anti-remote working articles doing the rounds, including one that is apparently saying we need the commute home to psychologically switch off from work.

Since I have gone 100% remote I have never been happier. At the end of the day I lock my laptop, walk through a door and I'm home. I get to spend more time with my wife and boys, I'm not tired out from the stress of commuting, and at the weekends I want to get out and do stuff and I can afford to because I'm not spending on fuel or public transport.

I'm sure some people prefer to be in the office all the time. Some prefer to be at home all the time. Some prefer a mix. Why can't it be left at that? Stop with the anti-remote rhetoric and companies, if you're listening, the best way to get good people is to be flexible.

@brianleroux yes, but on a web where old browsers mingle with new, isn't compilation required to deliver runnable code?

Good lunchtime session with Chris The Teacher today

So almost finished my #ExpanseVACSuit but not happy with arm controller.. I have found these esp32 touchscreen LCD units from AliExpress which I am going to try to use to replace the screens with actual animated panels.. will not be easy but should look much better. If anyone has any resources for programming them to basically play a video file or a series of images on boot up that would be great. Only cost £12 ea 😁

The myth the UK’s surveillance apparatus is ‘going dark’ and can’t keep up with technology. computerweekly.com/news/365531 never in human history have those in power been able to know so much about our lives and yet still their hunger to invade our personal privacy continues. #surveillance #ripa

@pluralistic here in the UK, operation of a mastodon instance will soon be a minefield, thanks to the ill-conceived, all encompassing "online harms" bill.

The duties imposed upon even the smallest operators are extremely onerous, and come with significant penalties. Crazy.

@sil haven't had this happen ever. Generaly Intel gfx or low end separate card, on X not Wayland).

Try disableing the compositor (see system settings) to see if helps.

June 2022 --> February 2023. The kid has grown two inches. The trucks have grown even faster.

This is not fine.

@sil @timttmy well, true, but have to deal with reality of direction UK going on. OpenReach will attach a dedicated UPS to the OTE if you are 'vulnerable' or you could do this yourself if there are "reasons".

@sil nobody gets analogue PSTN hook ups any more, as OpenReach are deep into the switch off. Router is a Fritzbox, connects to standard analogue phones fine.
