Them: What about the latest new syntax that isn't ubiquitous in browsers?

Me: What about it? Isn't production stability more important than code aesthetics that likely will change?

Them: Less typing is faster!

Me: Not having to re-write code or re-build deps is faster than having to do that. Way faster than saving a few characters. Typing speed is never the problem.

Holy crap I just randomly ran across the way to disable those annoying “Log In With Google” prompts that appear all over the web.

1. myaccount.google.com/data-and-
2. Scroll to Apps and Services
3. Click Third-party apps with account access
4. Uncheck Google Account sign-in prompts

We thought the internet would advance civilization by providing instantaneous access to all of human knowledge. Instead it enabled the loudest most wrong people on the planet to build a world in which facts are subjective.

My weekend project:

"Turning a Raspberry Pi Zero W into a travel media centre."

I'm impressed with how usable Kodi on a Raspberry Pi Zero W is. *Really* impressed.

The UK government recently told the BBC that its Online Safety Bill does not represent a ban on end-to-end encryption. So I fact-checked it. untidy.substack.com/p/fact-che

The EU’s “chat control” legislation is the most alarming proposal I’ve ever read. Taken in context, it is essentially a design for the most powerful text and image-based mass surveillance system the free world has ever seen.

Those looking for a one-stop summary, this is a great, well-researched piece on the UK's Online Safety Bill, why Signal, WhatsApp et al are raising the alarm, & the serious threats to privacy & (ironically) safety the current Bill poses.

Can you guess what it is yet?

Our open letter to the UK government says it loud and clear: the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill will seriously weaken data protection rights in the UK and harm people from marginalised communities. The government must scrap the Bill and engage with civil society.

@vjon @LuigiDev @foone death of IE and rise of evergreen browsers with own DNS (including over HTTPS) and networking stacks helps massively with adoption.

@neil Sky's TV news doesn't seem bad day to day, then Last Leg for a weekly round up

@vjon @LuigiDev @foone false. SNI is part of the encrypted payload in all modern TLS, because of exactly this issue in SSL

It is wintertime! Lets get outside with your AT-ATs to play a little bit.
They love it!

@LuigiDev @foone hardly anyone has one site per ip. DNS is aggressivly encrypted in the largest browser. Moves also afoot to scramble sub domains at resolver level
