Perhaps I'm the only one who wants to see #i18n support for Mastodon usernames...?

But if you also think the Fediverse should be open to people unfamiliar with a QWERTY keyboard, please leave a thumbs-up on github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

Hey, I've just anaesthetised a grizzly
And this is crazy
But here's my numb bear
So call me maybe

So, a slow news day:

1. India lands a rover at the Lunar south pole

2. Prigozhin and Utkin's bizjet shot down over Russia, presumably on Putin's orders

3. Trump and co-conspirators arrested and charged under RICO Act

... Anything else? :big_mood: :blobaww:

Who's done good critical work on "age verification" systems/companies?

I'm seeing a lot of grifty vendors prepared to hawk their wares as a new strain of child-focused online legislation moves forward. I'd love to read detailed assessments of the tech & the claims 🙏

What I'm listening to today: "One Channel Music", Aleksi Eeben

This piece is a sort of parlor trick. The C64 has three sound channels, but each is reprogrammable— each can play any sound the SID is capable of. So composing for C64 it's good practice to learn to cram "two channels into one", rapidly switching timbres to alternate instruments. This track goes all the way to fitting *the whole song* in 1 channel. It's complex and interesting sounding, and shockingly funky.

My clever wife has written a terminal emulator in an imperative procedural programming language, which she retails at beachfront locations around the world.

She sells C shells by the sea shore.

If you'd like to contribute to #OpenStreetMap but feel lost and unsure where to begin, I can recommend getting StreetComplete, which turns filling out OSM data fields into a game of completing quests in your local area. You'll get questions like "What's the road surface here?" or "What are the opening times for this shop?" or "What's the house number of this house?" and can just go there and check and then answer. Very convenient for me who don't understand GIS and OSM!

Any #icon or #design or #ui people know of any studies related to recognition of the below icon-types by different age ranges?

In general I'm looking for the concept of "Where" or "Location" via the invocation of a "Map".

If there's a recognition study or something I'd love to read it.

In the meantime, a poll will follow asking for which most says "location" to you.
