@parsingphase @Edent sadly canceling the quietly done recurring subscription is a total ball ache. Almost as if deliberate.
Hurrah @frameworkcomputer is just the other side of the channel...
@mcc KDE and Snap Store aren't mutually exclusive?
Nail Harp - Halloween 2023
Recently played for a Halloween themed event and footage was captured.
Stay spooky my friends and enjoy the Nail Harp solo. : }
@RyunoKi @fedora @riecatnor it's also illegible as a graphic because resolution too low.
Probably made by someone at IBM.
You never get fired for using IBM.

@neil makes me want to Chumbawumba
i want something specific and weird. i assume mastodon is the place to ask for that.
i want a way that i can press a button on my phone and have a little ping go off in another part of the house. the ping MUST BE friendly and not startling. i would accept a physical button instead of my phone if necessary but that seems like overkill.
Hurrah, @frameworkcomputer shipped!
I've published a new article dedicated to the design and making of The Expanse!
This time, it's Season 3.
The Y Que slingshot racer, the UNN Agatha King, and the other Truman-class dreadnought, the UNN Thomas Prince, are featured.
This piece is temporarily reserved for my Patreon subscribers. Thanks to them for giving me the time to do all this!
today on “technological progress??”:
there’s a talk being given over Teams at work. my teammate at the next desk connected to the meeting shortly before it started and got called away, forgetting that the audio was on speaker
I connect to the call intending to listen over my headphones, but Teams somehow detected (through listening to my mic and comparing the audio? through bluetooth?) that there was another computer nearby already playing the meeting’s audio out loud and force muted everything on mine
I could unmute it but the warning strongly implies it will simultaneously unmute my mic and blast the meeting with background noise, so now I am sitting here listening to the audio on a laptop eight feet away like a normal person
re: suicide website, Online Safety Bill
@neil well done everyone in that article for missing the point. An Internet forum does not _cause_ suicide. You don't get a popup ad "have you considered suicide today?"
This is a classic example of trying to control demand for something by controlling supply, while completely ignoring the causal factors.
Has the government considered helping people with the crushing force of work-or-starve capitalism?
Have they tried giving people affordable housing not dependant on your ability to be abused by exploitative bosses?
@neil @jmtd @pwaring @beasts yup - KMS is the AWS service that provides the encryption keys:
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/kms/latest/developerguide/data-protection.html
"There is no mechanism for anyone, including AWS service operators, to view, access, or export plaintext key material. This principle applies even during catastrophic failures and disaster recovery events. Plaintext customer key material in AWS KMS is used for cryptographic operations within AWS KMS FIPS validated HSMs only in response to authorized requests made to the service by the customer or their delegate"
Hurrah, charged for my @frameworkcomputer Ryzen 7 pre-order. Not long now!
