@freemo I'm confused.

I want to follow @maccdog but in the Qoto web interface it says "follow request sent".

What is the other end meant to do ? Did I misunderstand something ?

From Project Alpha to the Gangs Matrix and the case of the Manchester 10, policing is taking on #PreCrime. Supposedly what you do online and even private messages can predict criminality, triggering surveillance and punishment. This quiz by Fair Trials shows you how. #privacy #AutomatedInjustice #AIAct

I wrote this six years ago about Google's "family plans". It could quite easily apply to #Netflix and their recently announced changes.

This is short notice (and brand new to us!) but we may be cut off as early as Feb 9th, as Twitter is switching to paid API access

We do have funds in OpenCollective, so will look at paid plans.

Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵

The Github Mastodon support is really neat - just add a link to your Mastodon account in Github, then add your Github account here, and it automatically verifies you.

It seems odd to me - watching the shift towards video as the default medium in news stories online.

99% of the time, I don't want to watch a video. I want to read the story. I want the information.

Video is okay in support of the text of the report - but I generally want the text first & foremost. The facts, the data.

When I click a news link - and turns out it is just a video link & no text - I generally bail before the video plays.

Something which can take awhile to understand is that cybersecurity does not require absolute perfection, it requires active ecosystem hostility at every layer.

@falken which is why it’s a good idea in my opinion for a lead to be taken on demonstrating that there are no technological barriers to doing such a thing. Without that, what happens is we get more good design apps that only work on a Mac and so further entrench platform lockout. Chrome lockout is also bad, but making a web app work cross browser is easier than making a platform specific app work cross platform.

@sil 80% of Photshop but running pay-per-hour in a web browser would be a compelling proposition

@sil oc Adobe wants to move everything to be on the Web. It's much easier to do Pay-monthly-or-lose-a-random-feature and there's no way to even think of a perpetual license. What's not to like?
