Me, two weeks ago: I'm a genius. This code is fantastic.

Me, last night, re-writing all that code: I'm a fucking idiot.

Replacing physical buttons and switches in cars with touchscreens, for “clean” design and lower manufacturing cost, is a safety hazard.

I've got to thank Elon for releasing me from the prison that is Twitter. I get so much done now and no longer hate my life.

What fresh hell is this? Adobe has opted me in to letting them train their algorithms on my photos? That’s the end of me using their cloud storage for anything, ever. #privacy #adobe #lightroom #LightroomMobile

So, copyright in 2023 …

The last Sherlock Holmes stories of Arthur Conan Doyle (note: not the movies!) are coming out of copyright.

And H. G. Wells came out of copyright a few years ago. (Again: not the movies!)

So …

"Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Martian Death Tripod" is something you can write straight from the shoulder now, no need to pretend it's satire.

It took 3x32W lasers. #laserlightcity #laser

@neil Back in the mid 2000s I was a member of the FSF and they sent out these bootable mini-CD-ROMs that were cut to fit in wallets. It reminds me of that. I generally keep a bootable USB drive with me for emergencies. But they are so small now, it should be able to fit something in a wallet at this point.

🆕 blog! “Fragile Technologists”

Picture the scene. You're in a pub and order, say, a cider or a cocktail. The local pub bore pipes up "What are you drinking that for? Real men drink..." and then names a brand of generic, piss-weak lager that is his substitute for a personality. He's the same guy who insists that "real men" […]

A tiny clip of lasers across the #Tyne (@seb_ly's #LaserLightCity show). We had a fair bit of drizzle in #Newcastle, but it added to the effect as it danced across the light beams.
