Like, I really don't get why so many of you are so eager to have statistical models write code for you.

I've been arguing for literally my whole career that the actual writing isn't the hard part of software development. But wow, did everyone take that in the wrong direction recently.

Understanding the system is the hard and valuable part. And I genuinely don't know how you think you're going to do that if you never get to do any of the safe and easy interactions with the system.

Like this is actually kinda fascinating honestly, Brother is now the best printer brand, the one that every Computer Person recommends, and is it because their printers are good? Their printers are fine, they print, whatever, no, it's because everybody else's printers have gotten Innovated out the wazoo, every innovation making them way worse, until it's gotten to the point where I wouldn't have one in the house even if it were free, and meanwhile Brother's have remained consistently Fine I Guess, which now makes them the best printer manufacturer simply by virtue of them opting out of the Who Can Get Crappiest Fastest race

If there’s one aspect of RTD writing for #DoctorWho that I don’t care for, it’s his reliance on magic to solve problems. Case in point the resolution to the meta crisis in Donna’s head (Donna and her child are magical) plus London streets being literally ripped apart then put back together by ‘magic’. The show was fun as long as you don’t look to hard at the actual story.
