You can’t charge an EV when travelling without a smartphone (and the requisite app on the smartphone.)

To buy gasoline, all I need is my wallet. Cash, credit, debit. You know, how we pay for everything else.

WTF are we even doing here? Why can’t I purchase electricity to charge like I purchase any other fuel? Why are we complicating things on purpose?

@djr it would be tactically much better for the #Conservatives to:

1. Not delay the EU border controls;
2. Hold the election in May;
3. Not waste too much money on an election they're going to lose anyway;
4. Let #Labour sort out the mess (and shoulder the consequent unpopularity);
5. Go into the 2029 election with a full war chest.

Obviously I hope they will not do this, but it would be their best option.

I should perhaps explain this: there are many, many charging options out there now for long EV drives. However, many of them have put a lot of work - a _lot_ of work - into not working _at all_the way they should. That being, I plug in the car, I tap a credit card and wait as long as I want and then unplug, leave and get charged for the juice I used.

Instead, there’s an app.

@nazgul If you've not watched "The Expanse" or read the books, you should. It's the opposite of heavy-handed when it comes to LGBTQ relationships; it's just who the characters are. Many of the leading characters are women, too, and that's done in a very organic way without hitting you over the head.

The novels are great, and the first 6 of them got adapted to very kick-ass TV, the likes of which I've never seen before. #TheExpanse

I joined Mozilla many years ago, and I've never had a year where I was happier about working on Firefox than this year.

Showing incremental successes in diversifying the revenue adds a lot of calmness to the org; it makes us less dependent on one big player.

I've never had a year where my team (and the entirety of Firefox) got as much cross-org and cross-leadership support as we had this year. For a product that the internet is currently declaring "dead", that's quite something!

I just learned about "Bad Apple". It's a more than 10 years old black and white animation that people have been playing back on any kind of hardware or medium (the original song was a chiptune from 1998). The animation is on youtube with 81 million views and there are C64 and tesla coil versions of it. But the most amazing one is this #StopMotion animation that's more than just 6000 printed frames: it also relies on camera pans on the animator's desk.

Nothing quite angers me like using an app that recommends to me people that I “should” know.

Which means that person probably allowed the app access to their contacts.

Giving an app access to your contacts is like spreading a venereal disease. Now this app knows who I am connected to, and can probably figure out why and how. That’s more information than I wanted to give them.

Don’t give apps access to your contacts. It’s not just your privacy that’s at stake.

You're telling me I should individually ban each Nazi on the 141 million user social network instead of just defederating from the Nazi network all together? Sorry not sorry, but that's just not possible. Every Admin has a limited amount of time. If your instance isn't moderating discrimination it has no place interacting with our users.

Those were the rules for every other Fediverse instance, and we do not discriminate nor favor Threads in any way. They are to be treated like every other instance.

For me personally an instance's user's ability to not be harassed but protected is more important.
