One of the things I’ve really enjoyed about moving to Mastodon is the sharing of gorgeous #photography. I’m a #photographer who enjoys capturing #nature. Before my #EDS diagnosis, I used to hike, especially over the summer of 2015, when my husband & I drove cross-country to experience all the beauty America has to offer. I miss those days, but I love that I can relive them through the eyes of so many others. #twittermigration

If you're having friends follow you to Fosstodon from other social media sites, first of all thank you for the recommendation. Second, PLEASE make sure they mention something about FOSS or technology or tech in the "Why do you want to join?" section. If they put something like "I want to follow friends" or "Elon sucks", they're probably not going to be accepted. You can follow friends from anywhere in the fed, and whether Elon sucks or not isn't going to change based on which instance you're on.

Polite reminder, mastodon users with visual impairments went to a lot of trouble getting people to use the alternative text description facility on image uploads. Spending energy over the past 5 years reminding people in the kindest ways to caption images. Please lets not lose that ethos. There are so many photos without alternative text captions now. It isn't difficult to do, and only takes a little effort to develop the habit. #image #Caption

Maybe everyone doesn't know this, but in the web browser interface you can deselect "crop images in non expanded posts to 16x9" in Preference:Appearance and you'll see the pictures full size, as God intended.

Also, when you're editing your pictures to add alt text you can move that circle around to focus on what shows up for people who have that box checked and like their pictures displayed wrong.

I didn't leave #twitter because it got ugly or unpleasant for me, whenever I check it mostly seems fine, with people I followed just going along like nothing happened. I left because it got shitty for other people.
I left because it was bought by a Nazi to promote Nazi ideas and I don't want to support Nazis.
