@flsounds that’s a beautiful take!

#ScienceMastodon

There’s just something about starting over. Removing the noise. Who do you want to keep in touch with? What feels like community to you??

Ok, here's a third #introduction because I'm about to follow some people who will otherwise have no idea why.

I have a PhD in #AppliedMath. My research was in mathematical models of infectious disease transmission. It's been a weird couple of years with everyone knowing something about my research just as I was settling into a non #academic job.

My current employer calls me an #economist, but mostly I do a lot of #statistics.

Bizarre how different the Mastodon (Android) app and the browser-based versions are.

Interesting paper looking at the effect of the soleus on whole body metabolism. It suggests all muscles do not have equal effects on body metabolism relative to muscle mass. Would affect success of exercise interventions and robotic exoskeletons. Hamilton MT, Hamilton DG, Zderic TW. A potent physiological method to magnify and sustain soleus oxidative metabolism improves glucose and lipid regulation. iScience. 2022 Aug 5;25(9):104869. doi: 10.1016/j.isci.2022.104869

I normally put my Twitter @ on my posters at conferences so I can connect with people I meet, or if someone wants to get in touch about my poster later they have an easy, relatively informal way to do so instead of email. Is anyone else considering putting their Mastodon handle on their conference posters?

As I do some last-minute work on my poster for Society for Neuroscience next week, I'm considering putting this with my email address. How about y'all?

Looking to follow more #writers and people interested in #tech, #music, #healing and #nature. Coming from Twitter @seriesGrounded. So far so good on this app.

@flsounds I think hashtags are extremely important

It’s kind of nice to have a fresh start here, and for everyone to level out their “status” of follower counts- some new mixing and fresh beginnings to connect with folks we may not have otherwise.
