Yea, telling you it is fun to shoot people has no effect at all other than casual fun... telling you climate change isnt real also has no real effect.

The sort of people that would kill will kill whether thry played the video game or not. The sort of people that will deny science will deny science whether they heard some bozo doing it or not.

@nohillside

Not sure I agree, The vast majority of video games seem to actively promote violence to solve their problems. And many set in real life settings (like grand theft auto) actively promote it against real life every day people.

they're doing some shenanigans that amount to training a neural network except they're not really trying to create a network they're just using the numerical optimization tools to perform automatic level of detail cleanup. the process seems to involve taking random render samples of lighting and the model and then moving parts of the smaller mesh around with the goal of being visually identical to the original input and perceptively enforces this.

also seems that it will consider the normal mapping during this process meaning it will evolve a detail map that pairs with the smoller mesh to make it look right.

:blobcatidea: kinda looks like it would make that Instant Meshes project very very useful.

@icedquinn

That is very interesting. I bookmarked it to check it out when im back home, but looks like it will be an interesting read. Thanks for the share.

@purple @shadowferret

@freemo @georgetakei Me too. And it really grates that we're paying (through taxes), the DNC/RNC to limit our options.

@freemo @georgetakei As long as the DNC is around to market and elevate establishment Democrats, we're pretty much stuck in the same cycle of choices that have been forced down our throats time and time again.

@PJLavatai

Pete B really woukd have been a great choice. I think his las name, as silly as it seems, and the fact that he is gay cost him the vote. That is depressing for the future.

@georgetakei

@elliot

Im not sure she woukd have been any better... Warren, Biden, and Bearnie were the tbree choices that would have all been horrible dem choices. The others were pretty tolerable and some even good decent choices imo.

@georgetakei

@admitsWrongIfProven

I try not to engagr in conversations of what the smellier turd is... but lets face it at least they are allowed to talk about thr massacres that occured in the usa without getting killed.

@zleap

@beckymsm I actually know him personally, he has been over for dinner and spent thr night. So im a bit of an unusual case when it comes to Biden haters ;)

@rastinza

Spying on superpowers is fine. Its the spying on the citizens that is the bigger issue IMO

@zleap

@beckymsm i disagree, bidens career has been an absolute disgrace (and his very low approval rating reflects that).

That said Pete Buttigeg was my top choice for dems, so we agree on that point.

@freemo

Yeah, indeed, and we are only getting little bits of information, thing is if people realise how big tech is working they would if they have any sense stop using it.

I know some places have banned tik tok, but doing that without explanation or providing evidence could be counter productive.

We need to end our reliance on china to build our tech and start building in friendly countries even if that means prices go up.

@zleap the lack of privacy in other countriea is a huge issue. But china has a history of some really horrific atrocities that even the usa cant match (though comes close at times)

"Can you explain this gap in your resume?"

"Yes, I used LaTeX and couldn't fix that bit"

@georgetakei The idea of another trump is depressing. More so than another Biden, but biden for another term is oretty scary too. One day hope ill see a decent candidate from either side, or even better a third party win.

@copyme@mastodon.online No its fine... a
I was thinking of such an index before but was never clear how to implement it.
