@TruthSandwich for sure, which is exactly why we leave it up to our users, because they have a right to decide that for themselves.. we can provide suggestions and I think the block list we suggest is fairly good (it only suggests blocks on truly ceasepools of instances :) )

@TruthSandwich Not yet but we have discussed exactly that feature and it is in development.

@TruthSandwich They could.. but that would expose their private IP to the server, exclude them from safety tools we have in place for exactly this scenario (subscriptions), add barriers to our own users even the good-actors (for examples those monitoring bad-actors) and tons of other reasons I have discussed in the past.

We do not defederate because doing so exposes our LGBTQ and other at-risk members of our community to harm, and we have discussed this as an instance many times in the past exactly how and why. We have at least 2 historic cases on our server where our federation policy has explicitly saved lives... Our users are adults, and respectful, they can have the power to decide for themselves what they see so long as they dont abuse that privilate.

@TruthSandwich They are a right-wing agenda instance... that comes with all the stupidity of any politically aligned instance, including bigotry and shit posting. I have them blocked, and pretty sure they are on our recommended block list as well (the one in my pinned post).. so yea we generally suggest new users block them.

I wouldnt mind defederating but then if someone wanted to see something from that instance for any reason they wouldnt have a means to do so.

@admitsWrongIfProven Important to who? the language is important for drawing in contributors mostly and makes a huge difference in that regard. Beyond that the choice of language is largely influenced by the infrastructure you want to build and if there is good library and framework support int he language you want to do it in.

It could mean anything that causes their outward appearence to approach the other gender. If you look more like the opposite sex (intentionally) then you are somewhere along transitioning.

How much of it was a disguise or pseudonym vs them actually identifying is not recorded. Their personal motivations wasnt really recorded as far as I know, in fact much of the details are lost to history.
