@thor yea absolutely. The math is largely the same you just ignore variables that wont be significant at audio scales.

I often liken it to classical physics vs quantum physics... the physics are the smae its just you can ignore 90% of the nuance when the scale is zoomed out enough

@thor analog is analog... a great deal is the same, in fact you could argue they are identical and the only real differences we see are one of emergency phenomenon at scale.

If you built audio circuits at the scale of a planet it would have many of the same difficulties as RF.

The fact that cheerleaders dont usually get attacked or maginalized is not really an excuse to attack or marginalize them... However women do, all the time, get attacked as "sexualizing" for what they wear, doing so here to cheerleaders is not the direction anyone in this movement should want to go IMO.

If thge meme came across as "cheerleaders are perfectly normal and non-sexualizing"... sure I'd have no problem with that... the message I got was "Cheerleaders are sexualizing children more than Drag queens, therefore they should be targeted as sexualizing long before drag queens even come up"

I mean the pistol I just bought is 112 year old design yet its still one of the best I own.. Im not an expert on fighter jets but I'd imagine there is still a place for the older ones in certain scenarios.

What he probably meant is you cant have a VCO that runs directly off a battery since the voltage of a battery isnt fixed.

A VCO off a battery is perfectly fine so long as you fix the voltage in a way that is source-independent.

@thor anyone can make an RF transmitter or receiver that (barely) works... the trick is making a good and legal one.

I made a transmitter once when I was like 12 out of a 555 timer. It worked on AM, you could hear it on the radio from a few feet away... but being a very unstable square wave it had so many harmonics you could pretty much tune up anywhere and still hear it :)

@thor There are tons of designs and what you choose depends on a lot of features.. the best of the more commonly used designs are phase locked loops. this is usually what your cell phone is using to generate the carrier.

But yea if its a receiver only of course it can be as dirty as you like, and yea some of that may never reach a persons ears depending on the details.

@thor depends, just because something may work doesnt mean its legal.. you get distortion in your carrier signal it may start emitting energy into frequencies or bands you dont want and interfererence often means lack of FCC compliance... but we are talking very generally, it depends on what sort we are talking about, how much, and what the power spectrum looks like.

@thor yup, as a general rule when the length of something approches or exceeds the wavelengtht hen you need to treat it as a transmission line. Since microwave has such a small wavelength almost everything is a TL

@thor rf is usually analog at high enough frequencies a lot of edge cases emerge
