@TruthSandwich

I think your not putting enough value on the beach front property I mentioned earlier :)

@Empiricism_Reloaded

@TruthSandwich

Yea, well some people put pinapple on their pizza too. No skin off my back if they want to have backwards opinions :)

@Empiricism_Reloaded

@TruthSandwich

Really, I'm pro climate change.. think of all the advantages, milder winters, nice beach weather summers. If we get lucky even water level rises and we have tons of new cheap waterfront property! Best yet, it means most of the humans all die off off... its hard to see the down side!

@Empiricism_Reloaded

I mean... some truth to that... most of the "common sense" gun laws proposed are completely ignorant of why it is the way it is.

@TruthSandwich

Then instead of debating what the word means in some absolute sense it is more helpful to ask what they meant the word to mean when they used it, then youll know and it will be less headache.

@Empiricism_Reloaded

@TruthSandwich

There are tons of words that are self contradictory. in fact it is so common it has a term, that would be called an "autoantomym"

@Empiricism_Reloaded

@TruthSandwich

again, neoliberal is literally translated to "new-age liberal".. the fact that some people refer to new-age liberals as one specific point in time, and others use other points in time is not really important. You are trying to create a narrow definition when the true fdefinition is broad.

One thing ifind interesting is you argued this very point with me weeks ago and claimed you never heard of someone using neoliberal to differentiate libertarianism/classically liberal.. yet here you are arguing with like the 10th person I've seen that neo-liberal means what you say it means rather than what the 10 of us used it to mean so far... so clearly both uses occur and are common, that alone shows the definition is used broadly and not narrowly.

@Empiricism_Reloaded

@Empiricism_Reloaded

I think semantics are only important so far as everyone knows what is trying to be said... beyond that its just noise.

@TruthSandwich

@Empiricism_Reloaded

Neoliberal literally translates to "new-age liberal".. if you are refering to new-age liberals as opposed to classical liberals I think its a fine term, albeit a bit general.

@TruthSandwich

@kirby

It is called Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation... nothing wrong with a movement being represented by a centralized entitty. But that means we get to judge them based on central principles too.

@realcaseyrollins

@realcaseyrollins

I think its a deadend to try to understand the logic of anyone on the political extremes.. the truth is they wanted to do it because some edgy person with a voice said it, it sounded cool and unique, so everyone parroted it. Actually thinking critically and debating nuance is not something they do (they being the extreme left and right).

@Flatulenator

I have heard lots of reasons, some make sense some dont...

Some say you shouldnt open carry cause it will cause people to fight against guns and try to outlaw them.. I say the opposite, people being around them will make them more comfortable with it.

Some say you shouldnt cause it will cause a disturbance, also bad logic.

The only good logic I heard is that it will alert a bad person that you are armed and may make you an early target and therefore make it hard for you to protect yourself effectively.

@realcaseyrollins Oh the defund shit was hilarious... As you know i was very much "cops are pieces of shit", and we even disagreed strongly on the floyd case.... but that said we both agree the defund the police shit was the dumbest response possible to that.

Fixing the police would mean better training, fixing some legislations, doing all sorts of things, and those things cost money. If there is **one** thing the liberals should know its that trying to fix shit costs money, actually fixing it (if even possible) costs a lot.

@chiasm in my field its worse, there are some things an expert can do that a noob couldnt do no matter how much time they invest.

@austinkocher Its a purpose built device, so limited... I would recommend one of hte many e-paper android devices instead. Much more flexible and powerful.

@freepeoplesfreepress as long as the pen is very large and sharp, and the sword is very tiny and dull, then this holds true ;)
