Oh it is certainly "inexplicable"... they didnt make guns with shorter barrels illegal, you can have a gun of any level of power as short as you want. The only rule is if you make it short, it also has to be extra dangerous and hard to aim, which is complete nonsense if you are trying to address concealability.

True, another play they might do is some sort of a silence-by-default thing... basically you cant see non-meta users unless you explicitly seek them out and follow them.
Keep in mind they could always federate and just turn off user migration... For them that might be the best of both worlds... For now they are claiming they will allow migration.

I suspect they will federate on a whitelist principal. The instance admins who agreed to the NDA and entered the discussion are probably the ones they will whitelist. They are too paranoid about moderation to freely federate I suspect.

… but if, as instance moderator, your primary goal is to "be nice to each other", where being nice to each other refers only to the mods' own in-group, it's an emergent phenomenon.

@libroraptor I didnt invent the full-R its a standard part of copperplate and many other scripts going back hundreds of years, including gothic scripts.
The rules around when to use each basically dictate that you use half-r when you need a descender low in fo the next letter and the full-r is for connectors closer to midline.. if you do "proper" scripts you should be using a mix of both.

The full r isnt well known but it is hundreds of years old and is standard in calligraphy, though not always used.
But if they do it that way then what would motivate anyone to stay on meta when they can get the same expiernce ad free by leaving and still talk to their friends on meta?

@freemo Suppressors are like the one firearms related thing that’s less regulated in most of Europe compared to the USA. I love shooting my .22LR pistol suppressed, you almost only hear the action working and a little “puff”. For my long range bolt gun I prefer a muzzle brake (and double hearing protection) to minimize recoil.
@skyblond that would be just as bad for me... I would likely silence them if I could get the members of the servers to agree... mass spamming is just not something I'd be ok with.
Honestly while there are plenty reasons to be concerned with what #Threads might do the biggest immediate concern for me personally is just if they are going to spam ads at me by having bot accounts that push spam to me in my mentions.... that would be a nightmare!
