@xarvos @icedquinn

Fair, but if you used them youd notice the difference visually quick easily.

@xarvos

The spring algorithm is very ineffecient and doesnt work well... You should really check out my algo, it is an improvement in every way.

@icedquinn

@ned

yea, strongly disagree. Both millionairs and billionairs will invest in the long term if it is profitable... If the future looks bleak either may construct a short term exit strategy

@Faket

@ned

That is a blanket statement that simply isnt true. Generally owners want the future success of their company because then they make even more money, and will invest accordingly.

That said there are some fringe cases where an owner might bailout now for fear of a future crash.

@Faket

@Faket

You said you disagreed then went on to say a bunch of things that all agreed with me... ok.

The owner takes the risk, if the company fails they loose a lot.. if it succeeds they gain a lot. on this you agreed. while saying you didnt... ok

@ned

@Faket

Well no, not always... The owner is taking a risk, the company may not succeed and the owner may not just not see the profits, he may loose his entire life's savings int he venture...

The difference is while the owner may loose everything, the worker is garunteed to be paid for the work he does and will continue to earn a paycheck week after week.

@opendna @heidilifeldman@mastodon.sociaNo thats not what im arguing for.

@sergeant Sadly my dutch is very rudimentary. I have to use translators still.. I just recognized it as Dutch and got excited :) @stux and @trinsec are also Dutch and I highly recommend them :) Trin is a mod here, never met them in person but their supper chill. Stux I've been friends with since about the first day he got on the fediverse. We hung out back when he was still new here :) also a very good guy.

@amoshiashwili

They arent people who are working? The what now?

also no, I addressed your second point already. If they had inside information about corruption, then yes, you should hold them accountable. Now if your expecting them to act on corruption becoming publicly known, there is a formal system in place to investigate those claims and act on them. It is not an employees responsiblity to determine their bosses innocence or guilt, or to hold him accountable for it.

Agreed the sort of sentient AI concerns are a ways away at the moment and not really where the initials issues will arise.

The real issues with AI is going to be far more nuanced than that... the fact that it learns from humans (usually) and therefore can learn things like racism unintentionally.

@cuibonobaby I never said the issue was organization vs individual.. they arent a political party, they arent a political individual. They are neither. What they are is an organization whose purpose it is to harass minorities.

> I believe mask-wearing is still advisable because Covid causes long-term disability, and because patients are infectious before they have symptoms (if, indeed, they ever get them).

With COVID being here to stay that means we would be commiting to wear masks forever (or atleast many decades)... That is an unreasonable ask for society to wear masks forever. I dont think that is reasonable.

> I'm not arguing against open-plan offices: I'm asking against dragging everyone into offices when there's no point. (I'm a software developer, and so I'm more productive at home than when distracted by office chatter.)

In principle I agree, we really dont need to be in offices and working remote for most jobs makes logical sense even without COVID being a consideration. So in that sense I support this.

But requiring companies to do this rather than letting it be the choice of the owner, that doesnt seem reasonable to me.

@markusl @nilikm

I am have been working as a COVID research scie tist for the past 2 years. One thing i can say with fairly good certainty at this point is that COVID will never be over. It i, like the flu, is here to stay. That said we can take best practices measures when dealing with it like we do with most common illnesses.

Mask wearing makes sense if your sick and around people or they are sick. For the general population, not so much anymore, thats over the top.

Better ventilation is probably a good idea to address disease in general so i can get behind that.

If people cant get vaccinated thats a problem, better vaccine access for sure too if thats an issue there.

Businesses allowing for open floor plans seems fine to allow, to restrict that also seems overkill to me.

@cuibonobaby No, how is being in the KKK and an assocition with a political figure? It is an organization, not a person, it isnt a political party nor contain any politicians.
