@DrBonesMD

To illustrate your point im going to go around to homeless people and aim a gun at them and go "Give me a million dollars, actually nevermind you can keep it as a giveaway" then go home... then we can all praise me for giving million dollar giveaways to the homeless.

@GW

@niclas

Most successful people work below minimum wage, namely, 0$. I have worked at 0$ at all my companies at the start.

@QasimRashid

@equiraptor Yes we covered that earlier in the thread and agreed that was a mistake.

@DrBonesMD

Sure, its simple, you cant call something a "giveaway" when you are simply choosing not to take something of theirs.

If i am giving something away it implies it is mine to give, not that I could take soemthing that is yours and dont.

@GW

@diresock

> Well... five states don't have a minimum wage: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Two states, Georgia and Wyoming, have a minimum wage below $7.25 per hour.

Seems I was mistaken there. Just double checked, indeed there are two states below federal minimum wage.

> The massive increase in wealth of anyone who gets into congress is a more interesting trend that needs investigation.

Indeed that would be more interesting a argument.

@QasimRashid

@QasimRashid

Wow so much misleading data here not sure where to start...

> Billionaire tax rate: 8.2%
> Worker tax rate: 13%

The billionaire tax rate you site is across the entire family then averaged per person. So a billionaire with 5 new born kids and a wife would show1/7th his **real** paid tax rate."

As if that werent bad enough the worker tax rate is the number as it would be calculated for individual works, not diluted across the family. So clearly this is an intentional cheat.

How do I know? Because literally the first hit when i google searched it gave those numbers and when investigating the source I found the intentionally misleading nature of it.

> Federal Minimum Wage
2009: $7.25
2023: $7.25

This has two problems.. 1st, you are cmparing an entire persons life worth (including inheretance) and comparing it against someone supposed hourly wage. These arent even remotely comparable or related things.

On top of that you used the federal minimum wage which is not actually used, anywhere. The states all have their own minimum wage, and they are all above that of the federal minimum wage. So the federal minimum wage you list is literally not the minimum wage used **anywhere**

This is a big reason why these sorts of arguments are dismissed by so many people, they are so over the top dishonest and biased people have stopped paying attention to this sort of nonsense.

@appassionato

The irony of a book on Oligarchy sold by Cambridge is not lost on me, lol.

@bookstodon

@freemo @danilo

That's what I was thinking. You could probably replace radio with cheap books as well if you wanted to go back further.

And when it comes to marketing to kids, the 50's and 60's are without compare. Those two decades made everything before and after look tame.

If you ever thought TV was real or something to aim for, it's you who has the problem, not a faceless, definitionless "they" you've invented to justify your angsty, pathetic adolescent outrage.

@kilroy_was_here

I think books are a little easier to ignore than TV or radio, but the idea isnt that different, more or less agree.

Yea in many ways the older advertising stuff was bonkers "Hey kids, buy our special BB guns, each BB laced with heroin and comes with a free 8--ball of cocaine too!"

@danilo

@danilo Im confused why you think you are the first generation to expiernce that.... Seems most of the previous generations went through the same, just replace TV with radio, same basic deal though.

@sb Im a bit confused by your response.. unless I read that wrong they specifically said they support the idea of the shelter, just not the choice of location, which no one had a chance to discuss.

Assuming that is true and not just something they are saying, that sounds reasonable, to want that discussed first and ensure the location is suitable.

@DrBonesMD

Man no matter how many times I block this Reich dude his stupidity somehow keeps making it to my feed...

Not taxing someone, regardless of if you agree with it or not, is **not** the same as "billions in tax giveaways", just saying it in such an obviously incorrect way makes it really hard to take this guy seriously, its the norm for him too.

@GW

@freepeoplesfreepress Agreed, and despite clear wording that the rights shall not be infringed virtually every state has laws infringing on the right to bear arms... it is probably one of democrats biggest disgraces.

@freepeoplesfreepress On that we agree, unfortunately the democrats have little regard for the constitution when it comes to this matter.

@freepeoplesfreepress Yup.. yet another way the democrats have shown their idiocy in this regard. Like guns dont have to be so loud they cause ear damage. Silencerscould be build into every gun, but it isnt. Because the democrats think forcing guns to be more dangerous is a viable tactic in their long term plans to restrict or eliminate them.

@kmic steam power such as this was used many many centuries earlier. W have recorded use of steam power 1 AD, and probably earlier.

Ever since I learned about guns I just cant watch movies the same... all I keep thinking is "how are all these people not completely deaf by the end of the movie". Hell I forget to put on ear protection just once and I cant hear anything for a day.
