@admitsWrongIfProven Inheretance isnt stealing, the person wanted you to have it. Taxes are stealing in the sense that you are taking money against someones will to get it to someoneone else.

That said I''m actually not against taxes, but only when it benefits the greater good (and base line welfare that keeps people froms starving does that)

@admitsWrongIfProven No I dont think people should work for their keep. I can think of plenty of examples (like inheretance) where they don't and I'm ok with it.

What I think is that people shouldnt be forced to let you steal from them so they dont have to work for their keep (communism for exmaple)

@freemo Kinda scary how you consider me wrong on so many things, then you say such simple, yet useful truth. Reality is confusing, don't you agree?

@admitsWrongIfProven you are probably just noticing i am more direct about things i disagree. It isnt that i find you more wrong than anyone else might. Im just more likely to tell you.

@olives any law that addresses deep fakes should not really in any way be related to AI... Either i have a right to use your likeness or I dont. Whether I use an AI to do it or not shouldnt be relevant.

What is a transplant?

@LLS

Most importantly if the three people who didnt like either option had voted third party instead of not voting then there would have been a tie and they wouldnt have drove off the cliff or had to deal with a unwanted choice.

@mastodonmigration @msbellows @TonyStark

@QasimRashid Jesus christ even when your right (that black people dont have the same oppertunity as white) your still wrong. Its not because of a single decision by the FHA 70 years ago. Hell that isnt even close to the most important reason for the disparity.

@georgetakei Its all in good fun, I really dont see the problem as long as its done in jest.

What are your thoughts though?

I just watched a court video of someone represented pro se (he represents himself as a lawyer) and then he used attorney-client privilege when he was being questioned and the prosecutor goes "You are claiming attorney-client privilege... for yourself, with yourself" and he says "yes" lolol

A little illustration showing my take on einstein's quote. What we know we dont know is simply a small, ever growing line between what we know and what we don't know we know...,

“As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it.” -- Albert Einstein

@freemo For one, the beta and the non-beta store messages in different places IIUC, they are independent. Copying or restoring stuff around does not help. Signal desktop seems to be very fragile in that regard. It is also a security feature to not transfer old messages upon fresh pairing. All in all you're lucky if you can keep your message history and this is what I intend to so.

@nobodyinperson I see. In that case sounds like its time to find a new service :) Sorry I am not more help

@nobodyinperson

ohhh i missed that part then... but if your issue then is just loosing all the messages (not sure why that would happen but i beleive you) there is probably some way you can save then restore the file system that backs it.

Sorry i dont have a horse in this race it seems, I missed something critical I think

What people think getting investment and owning a company looks like:

Pay is huge
Everyone else does the work for you
Never need to work overtime

What it really looks like:

Working for free for the first year or two
You work 100 hour weeks, and need to work every day
Spend most of your time training and mentoring employees to give them marketable job skills (and giving them raises before you even get paid)

@nobodyinperson

But the latest release DOES have signal-desktop (different package than signal-desktop-bin)... aside fromt he bin being a bit faster to install why does it matter, seems the non-bin should be fine no?

@miyagiyoda Depends largely on the location. In some states as far as my limited knowledge goes a no trespassing sign might be sufficient if they dont have a warrant or exigent circumstances. I know in PA it is supposed to be.

Problem is a cop can easily lie and say there was no sign (and perhaps rip it down even). A written formal notice is a little harder to talk their way out of.

Im watching cop interaction videos and one thing i heard a few cops say now to people who refused to answer questions or give them a hard time.. they ask "Why do you hate cops so much?".... no no no buddy, these people dont hate you, they are **scared** of you, big difference. People just dont tend to like people they are scared of, but that is secondary!
