@modrobert

What you just said is not contrary to what I said.

The vast majority of the rich were born poor and middle class. But there are very few rich people, ergo, your change of becoming rich is still low.

Lets face it, the rich represent (mostly) the people who are the absolute best at making money. Not everyone can be the best, most people cant be the best, but being the best is open to anyone no matter how you started.

@freeschool

@modrobert

That means there are even fewer rich assholes and even more poor assholes. So doesnt really change the crux of the argument here.

That said uneven wealth distribution is not the issue and never has been. The true measure should be the oppertunity afforded to the poor and middle class and their quality of life.

Lets not forget more than half of the wealthy people started out in life as poor or middle class.

@freeschool

@freeschool Rich people have more power, so for an equal measure of asshole you might argue they do more damage on an individual basis. But there are is also far fewer of them, so collectively this balances out.

In reality I'd say the huge masses of poor to middle class assholes do equal societal damage overall when compared to the very small number of rich assholes.

@freeschool Its not the rich who are oppressing us. Everyone oppresses us, rich, poor, middle class. People are just assholes.

@stux In many places there simply are no biking lanes. The road is where the cyclist is **supposed** to be, even though they block traffic.

It is like that in philadelphia, almost no bike lanes, the bikes are expected to occupy the same lanes as the cars.

@stux The hate for cyclists is well founded but also doesnt apply to the netherlands for one important reason: infrastructure. In the netherlands bikes and cars are completely separate except when maybe crossing over the road for a turn or something. In other countries the bikes and cars share the same road and same lanes too. This means a car behind a bike needs to go at bike speeds,, so naturally it pisses people off.

@koherecoWatchdog The truth of the matter, for good or bad, is that people will often prioritize convenience over privacy. If people didnt we probably would have far fewer privacy concerns.

@koherecoWatchdog Most people dont **Want** to print their own checks, so low demand. Most of us want digital solutions. I think this is one reason crypto has some support, its digital but its also community run.

@Dreamer9177 I was brought up poor, many in my family were rich. Both me and the rest of my family were all taught the same way.

@Dreamer9177
I was raised poor as well, only becamr successful because a rich stranger gave me a generous
oppertunity at a yung age. In fact id have to tha k quite a few rich people for helping me get out of ploverty

@Dreamer9177 To be honest, hasn't been my experience. I've found both the poor and the rich to be equally shitty and equally kind.

The idea that power and money corrupts is only half true, it just gives a means for corruption. The poor cheat and steal just as much (maybe more so due to the neccesity), they just have less power to do so successfully or at large scales.

@Dreamer9177 You're right, as do the democrats sadly. Therein lies the problem.

@mur2501 Thats a lot to unload, im not sure I have all the answers. Let me try to answer this more properly later when i can do a proper write up

@2ck You need callouses for it to work. I have heard of people putting superglue on their fingertips to simulate callouses
