What cant be done with additive tech these days? Seems like everything (though some areas are quite new)... One company is even working to make a whole rocketship out of additive tech.

Dr. Chris Chouinard is doing some interesting work on ion mobility-mass spectrometry for a wide range of applications from #biomedical to #antidoping. He is also using predictive computational approaches to be able to detect structures of compounds that don't even exist yet!

A few things actually. @trinsec and I recently discussed it and saw a few things we really want. Post translation was very appealing, as was being able to properly edit posts.
As a fork our version doesnt track mainstream anymore. So it is not an indication that we are "behind". We take in features and bug fixes piecemeal.
That said there are some new features we have yet to pull into our fork. We are actively working on that now. I am trying to hire a developer to help me and have one who is interested (a mastodon dev).

Qoto != Goto
Yet, when first I glanced at Qoto, I saw Goto, that infamous #Fortran statement responsible for mountains of spaghetti code. I then saw what it really stood for and immediately signed up.
Qoto, to me, means #reading to learn or teach ourselves. How else really? Watching or hearing do not quite measure up to reading, especially physical books that you hold. In bed, paperbacks are preferred; hardcovers can be dangerous if you’re drowsy.😩
The best way I found to see if I’ve learned something from reading is to write down a synopsis. Not so easy. How about writing something original? I have great admiration for all writers of: #novels, #short stories, #history, cook books, text books, technical specifications, how-to books, etc. etc. I’d go out on a limb and say, the art of writing is significantly more difficult than either creating a painting or composing a piece of music. Please note that I said art, not science.
In this internet age, much of our reading is in snippets. TL;DR
So, here’s a poll for the longest time you’ve spent reading in one sitting recently. (excepting this toot)
@pvinis As I update the QOTO fork I do announce it. We are actually trying to hire a developer now to help out so I dont have to do it all myself.

QOTO is a fork of vanilla mastodon with many unique features, as such we no longer track versions with mainstream mastodon, our version has no meaning compared to mainstream anymore. We pull in both new features and bug fixes piecemeal.
That said we do have a few features from vanilla that were newly added we plan to bring in soon, mostly minor things though.
