The #edutooter community is starting to grow #TwitterMigration started a little while back but I should think the number joining up today will soar.
Trying to grow my follow list to make my feed more varied. If you’re interested in #education #politics #culture #history #philosophy #art #Eduresearch #phdlife #satire #retrotech #music give me a follow and I’ll follow back #followbackfriday
Many thanks to people like @freemo who manage servers in their own time, using their own resources.
re: kiwifarms, suspend list scraping
Its usually considered polite to ask a person before screenshotting private conversations. That said its perfectly fine and its welcome to be public. There were just some important context details you left out (such as the vote being only among moderators)
@ner oh we have had the ability to follow hashtags for ages now, long before vanilla mastodon. In fact dor us there are multiple ways to do it. You can add it directly to a column, or you can follow a hash tag... there are also favorite hashtags but thats a bit different. Set it in your oreferences if you want to follow them or in the column settings if you want to add it to a column.

I'm senior researcher at #CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and #IPGP (Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris).
http://www.ipgp.fr/~lacassin
Working on #geology, #earthquake and sometimes #volcanic processes, related #hazards and risks, science communication…
I'm executive editor at TEKTONIKA https://twitter.com/WeAreTektonika (a DOA journal not yet on Mastodon), and advocate of #openscience, free #openaccess
Just moving from Twitter to Mastodon, and learning how to use it. Will keep the two accounts alive, at least for some time…
Virtual beers work in a pinch. If you ever get to israel though my door is open.
@lazzarello huh, im a bit confused by this response.
But no im at 29k right now.
Its not like we are dating. The bigger issue is youd have to live in israel.
With this new twitter exodus surge developing looks like ill be at 30k followers by the end of the day. Who wants to celebrate with a beer?
@tzerenij well im sure we are all glad you found your way here.
@War_Kittens have you reached out? We could also make a bot to mirror his posts.

@ner what exactly was your issue?
@ner it is unlikely the issue is due to the version. Our version number doesnt track mastodon, we are a fork and our version has no meaning relative to the mastodon version.
re: kiwifarms, suspend list scraping
And to be clear it isnt the community that votes. It is me and 2 other mods. The community votes for its mods though loosly.
Basically we discuss as a group of three any new rules and decide.
@CrashandCern cool, hope you enjoy your new home.
re: kiwifarms, suspend list scraping
By the way if you had asked my permissio to reproduce our private dms i would have happily said yes. No need to be all sbady about it, i dont hide our rules.
re: kiwifarms, suspend list scraping
To be clear i stated as a democracy any rules need to be voted on. I made it clear what my vite would be a d woukd exoect the other mods to agree. We woukd almost certainly ban child porn.
You are correct we do not susoend individual remote users and its for the same reason we dont ban servers.
