Honestly, I probably would have disengaged from the Fediverse/Mastoverse a long time ago - or at best had a mostly dormant account (like I do on the birdsite) - because of stuff like this, if not for #QOTO.
To my knowledge, this is the instance that comes closest to having the culture that Hacker News wants to have:

@sabinehiller I would not be surprised if this is true under scrutiny.. though I do wonder if this accounts for the amount of land that must be destroyed... a power plan requires far less land per GwH than turbines do... I'd also like to see this compared to nuclear.

Yea :( The best you can do is do your best to spread the word... call out or at least inform the hates.. let others know what is happening.. press gargron to address it.
Sadly gargron has blocked me on twitter and here, perhaps my whole server I dunno. He was getting lot sof requests to say something and he had no intention of addressing it I guess.
@hiromst Thanks for bringing this to our attention. As you point out translationn services werent showing this and the admins were reviewing just last night without success... A user recently helped us translate and I was reviewing this morning. I was about to ban them befor eyou brought it up... they are now suspended.
It seems rather accusatory to suggest we dont protect LGBTQ rights over an account that is fairly new, in a foreign language, and one that as you point out intentionally made it so translation services werent effective. I hope our response helps alleviate those concerns though.
@digital_carver look after yourself first man... likely the drama will die down though, we will see.

@skobkin i agree, telling the truth hurts the fediversr here...eugene has the power to stop that damage at any time by simply having a conversation... perhaps you shoukd ask him to stop doing thibgs that hurt thr fediverse when people learn about them.
What they meant is that it is nonnegotiable that thry will negotiate... i can see how you were mistaken now.
