@admitsWrongIfProven in the meantime the evidence is so overwhelming it shoukd be obvious with even a casual glance.. look up rape, violent crime, and homicide rates for various countries and just mark the date gun bans were instituted.
Attached is england and whales
Worth noting a single graph means very little. People can come upnwith explanations that might explain any one graph.. but when you notoce thisnpattern is consistent across a great many countries and states that enact gun restrictions (jamaica, detroit, england, whales, almost everywhere) its hard to deny.
@admitsWrongIfProven i am on my phone so i cant look it up. Ive posted examples from 6 or more countries/ststes in the past. Ill find it when im at my computer.
@admitsWrongIfProven Acyually other countries that mansged to grt ridnof school shootings did sonwith gun bans. In the vast majority of countries that did so there were usually huge spikes in rape and violent crimes following the ban... a prime example of what not to do.
Now your just being dramatic. I literally mentioned the exact solution several tines... free and easy access to mental health (psychiatry and medication). That is by far the easiest solution, and a real solution.
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
@admitsWrongIfProven banning or restricting guns, usually.
@admitsWrongIfProven the numbers i gave can eszily be proven/cited
No not too far, self defeating, huge difference.
No i do t want attempted solutions that make things worse (like many but not all barriers to getting guns)... i do want the actual solutions implemented like free access to psychiatrkc health for everyone
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
@admitsWrongIfProven and yes the shootings are preventable. The key is preventing them without causing a huge increase in rape and other violent crimes as you do it... ban guns you replace one murdered kid with 10000 raped and/or murdered adult... focus on mental health access and you can solve it for real potentially.
@admitsWrongIfProven no you misread. It has to do with schools and can be prevented with better infrastucture investment... but as i said like school shootings its so astronimically rare its not where our attention should be in either case.
Too far no, but a disaster when you think about it. As you know based on your statement mental health is indeed where we need to focus. However punishing people for seeing a doctor and effectively abolishing doctor patirnt confidentiality has the opposite effect and keeps people from seeking trestment.
What we need is not to punish thrm but also give them easy and free access to mental health, with all the privacy in tact
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
No i am saying that we should address the problem by ensuring our solutions have a net positive effect on overall crine
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
Partial bans arent effective, so the fact that its "common sense" but still makes things worse is exsctly the problem... democrats appeal to the unedilucated common sense, which iften makes it worse, rather than stick to the numbers and foing what works... why? Because what works isnt what the democrats keep demanding and thet care far more about votes than fixing the problem.
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
There are far easier ways to kill 10 people in a minute than either a knife or a gun. You could mix up a poison trivially and kill people en masse rather easily
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world @marq @Litzz11 @georgetakei
@admitsWrongIfProven no im suggedting chikdren get struck by lightening at twice the rate they die in school shootings.
Both are so astronomically rare that neither should be a.prioroty when it comes to concerns that need attention.
@admitsWrongIfProven You cant do anything individually to protect against lightening. But the school can by ensuring there is a good investment in lightening protection infrastructure. So Id say kf course that is the school and states responsiblity.
@admitsWrongIfProven well we have had third parties become primary 8x and evertime they were in single digits one or two elections back... so fairly likely as long as people stop pretending its not.
@admitsWrongIfProven other countries have none sure. But they also have better mental health access... why not focus on something that is 2x more likely?
@Pjcoyle No i dont. It was an idea by @realcaseyrollins
@jorge_sds@mastodon.world
Largely by doing feel good measures that cause overall violence rates to be unaffected or, more often, actually go up. They are like antivaxxers focusing on vaccine death but ignoring the lives saved by guns/ vaccines, and just keep making things worse
