@TruthSandwich

You make a convincing argument as to the potential quality of this article. Thanks for convincing me to read it.

Since you are running your own server you may be interested in this, I just wrote a whole AP server that works for static sites!

Friend: You need to exercise more!

Me: What do you mean, I only use the stairs all day when I am at work.

Friend: You work from home.

Me Yea, and?

Friend: ::blank stare::

@drewfer One is a sheen ink by kiwi, they make custom inks, I love them. theother is by inkverse also a greatoption!

@freemo I'm not sure but maybe #libp2p will solve that.

I'm hopeful it will but we're waiting for libp2p to complete #AutoNatv2 which is in progress, and then for someone who understands both #ActivityPub and libp2p services to take a look and see if it is feasible. It is beyond me so I can remain hopeful 😉

It isn't essential but would be a very nice to have.

@ech

Yea humans can outrun the vast majority of mamals on foot in terms of long-distances. In fact there are a few modern humans who hunt this way, just just hunt deer with knives by running after them until the deer tires then they jump on it and slit their throat... amazing really, and sad.

@roboneko

@lonelyowl

The port is only half the battle, you still need a static public ip address if you wanted to have a reliable server. But yea if you really want to hack it there are ways.

@happyborg

@MaierAmsden

Just handwaving nd claiming a quote is out of context, when it clearly means the same thing in context, is just nonsense... you want to make that argument make it, but just saying it is so and hoping no one notices yoru talking out of your ass certainly isnt helping you look like you have a clue.

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

@happyborg

I mean that AP requires a server with a static address and available port, and must run 24/7 to be effective (otherwise I cant follow people will get errors).

Since the vast majority of personal computers are behind a nat with a dynamic IP you can not host AP based instances off your local machine unless you pay for commercial features (static public ip)

Interesting fact of the day: A chimpanzee is about 1.3x to 1.5x stronger than humans when it comes to pulling, jumping, and lifting with the legs in general. However when it comes to physical strength in terms of **pushing** humans are significantly stronger than chimps. Similarly while our legs arent as strong in terms of explosive power (jumping) we are many times better at endurance (using our leg muscles for longer). A human can cover a much farther distance on foot than a chimp could.

So the general factoids about chimps being stronger then us are very misleading. They are simply adapted to be stronger at the sorts of tasks they are suited for and weaker in others, while humans are stronger than a chimp in other ways.

@Science

@happyborg "serverless function" is the correct and adopted technical term. As far as I know it wasnt coined by google, but if it was, i dont see that really making a difference. It is the established standard term for such a thing.

You can run it in a server configuration if you want, go for it. Some of us dont want that level of complexity, especially not for a static site that has no need for it.

> I think a useful distinction is whether site specific code runs outside the client.

For ActivityPub it must, it is designed to. There are solutions if you want it totally in the client though, go for that if you want it.. I intend to add Nostr support on top of AP so my site does both and so people can follow it using the standard of their choice.

@MaierAmsden

Thats not what you did, you didnt even admit Biden was racist, let alone "in varying degree"... you tried to defend it with excuses and dismissing it as not racist calling it a "one off gaff" .. how something that lasts 10 years is a one off gaff is mind boggling.

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

@MaierAmsden

Ahh glad to see your making posts to show you agree with what i said now, thanks for that,yes I agree that is evidence that supports what I said.

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

I literally have the original 1980's official congress transcript posted on my TL from discussing this already... It very clearly shows the quote is valid, real, and in context.

@MaierAmsden

Then bring it up in thrad not as a side fork and i might comment... but a side fork that hides the rest of the conversation showing you defending explicit racism isnt going to work, no i wont jump on that side thread and let you get out of it that easy... if you want to talk your pre-racist defenses will be held on record for all to see here.

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

@MaierAmsden

HAHAHA "Spending 10 years keeping blacks our of white schools and **explicitly(( stating your doing it cause you dont want your white kids among other races, thats just a one time decontextualized gaffe".... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

God the mental gymnastics you will go through to defend racist politicians its amazing. I mean its not a "one time" its literally consistent over decades but ok....

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

@MaierAmsden

It is a link to **this** thread where I already used my words.. now your insisting i have to repeat myself because you wont read messages I already replied to you? Get a clue.

@BlueintheSouth @cathyginter

@MaierAmsden

I was alive during bussing... allowing black kids to choose if they want to go to a white school rather than force them to segregate is the choice... Sure invest in their schools too.. then the kids wont **opt** to bus to the white schools...

But yes it was racist, he made it clear his entire goal to oppose bussing was to keep his kids out of a "racial jungle".. excuse it all you want but he explicitly stated he was doing it for racist reasons and to keep his kids away from mixed race populations....

Kinda disgusting that knowing his motivations (and I showed you the quote) you would even defend this... thats some racist BS right there coming out of you.
