He was chased out of a few places before landing at QOTO... we were the only place that tolerated him at all it seems.
I fought to keep in here for a long time, I was his only ally. He will have a hard time finding that anywhere with his attitude

The official reason is report spamming. They had three warnings. didnt respond to any of them then when they had a chance to state their case when moderators were decided if action should be taken they just responded rudely.
There quite a few unofficial reasons that wouldnt have gotten him banned themselves but is against the spirit of the server. Just him starting trouble with people every single day almost intentionally. So no one is all that eager to dish out a fourth chance to him.

@admitsWrongIfProven Yes he copied the details from my posting, except the license info
Someone is selling my art work without telling me. That's cute.
@khird Its just so powerful you can do just about anything at enterprise level for 20$... its amazing. I myself used to love the QoS feature.
Just upgraded multiple nodes on my home network to the new @OpenWrt version... and nothing broke. I did my homework and tried to avoid known pitfalls, sure - but that never happens. It feels like the laws of nature are suspended today.
"He loved you as much as a drug addict could love anything other than his drugs" -- something I had to say to a family member
Fair, if you remind me in a few days ill be happy to come back and engage more fully.
I am reading, but you wont get a response from me on the rest or any more detail for like 2 days. Lets late and I have a trip tomorrow. ButI did read everything, just no time to engage further sorry. But thanks for your respond=ses
> stumbled upon this thread, first off I understand your experience doesn’t reflect the situation being described in the article,
Of course not, which is why I didnt limit it to my personal experiences. As I stated I asked several people who would be experts in this field and none of them heard of such a thing.. That is the telling part, my own personal experiences only prompted me to doubt the article, more so due to its complete lack of citations or evidence to back itself up.
> but you have to realize for any outside observer this is a logical fallacy
Which logical fallacy is that? As far as I know consulting with multiple experts, when there is a complete lack of evidence present would not be a logical fallacy. Closest one I can think of would be if I stated my expertise superscedes evidence. But when no evidence is provided I cant think of any possible fallacy you could refer to that would apply to seeking expert advice from multiple third parties.
> You’re placing a burden of proof based on your lack of personal experience to validate what the article proposes, and you’ve provided no evidence except anecdote.
Other way around. The OP/Article make an assertion with no evidence requiring the reader to have the burdon of proof and seek to prove what the article claims. Since the article provides no evidence and it has the true burden of proof it is automatically invalidated regardless of if I provide evidence or not. The fact that I took the time to check with experts anyway satisfies my own requirements for evidence, but is rather irrelevant to if it provs it for anyone else since the burden of proof was never mind=e and never satisfied.
> So please be aware that it comes off as contrarian.
You are welcome to think that... just as this introduction leaves me concerned that you may be unduely antagonistic and biased going in.
@freemo @artemesia @evacide I’ll operate in good faith and assume that you are genuinely curious. Your personal experience I assume goes into small business loans and residential real estate. I presume your experience does not go into either multi story office spaces or multi unit retail spaces. Most are corporately managed, and due to the significantly greater property values of shopping malls and office spaces are also not owned by small investor groups. 2/?
@raintrees Sure but here we are talking about someone who doesnt know their going to die, they just make bad choices they believe in.
@Gbudd It certainly isnt an easy question... I will have to give my response to you some thought.
@freemo That’s a really interesting question! Putting my EMT hat on, if they’re competent they get to refuse an intervention but in practice those are hard calls.
More generally it kind of depends on other factors. For example, do you let someone ignore a mandatory evacuation knowing they may want to be rescued later at greater risk to all concerned?
It’s a thought provoking question. I’d lean towards answering “Yes” in the abstract and mostly in practice but I’m willing to believe there are circumstances where I’d be open to “No” and I can’t come up with a consistent limiting principle.
@freemo I wasn't sure of the scope of your question, so I didn't answer. Suppose a paramedic refuses to provide lifesaving care to a person injured in a car crash, because the injured person was clearly at fault. In a sense, the paramedic "let someone die" who was "unwilling but otherwise capable" of following the rules of the road, which in this case is "what was needed to stay alive". That's quite a different situation from the decision to, say, force-feed a hunger striker.
@khird It was intentionally without scope, as I want to know what peoples general principles are in evaluating this in **any** scope.
That said I should have been clear that I am not considering if we should punish someone for **past** decision that they recognize is hurting them in the present.
I am talking about someone who makes a clear choice for their future on the assumption it is in their best interest but everyone else knows it will result in their death.
I was thinking in regard of homelessness as an example. If someone refuses to obtain skills and therefore cant afford to feed themselves should we feed them but force them to aquire skills. But then I wanted to apply this more generally... should we stop an alcoholic from drinking even if in the moment they think its what best for them.... etc.
