I never said I was a medical expert, I said I was a scientist... maybe you should look at my published papers instead, or even my resume.

I just finished inventing a decide capable of detecting covid on ones breath within a few minutes at little to no cost after leading a team of medical (clinical) and chemistry teams at a large lab in Israel.

Maybe you should ask, learn and research rather than accuse, it will go much further.

@andymoose

Carol Kane is in Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New worlds.

Weird choice for a Star Trek character, but I kinda love it, like a lot... I'm just like "Isnt that the chick that played along side Andy Kaufman"!

Loving this. They even wrote in her weird way of speaking to the plot that was great (wont leak that)

They also had a trans character in season 1 that was done quite well without making it "a thing", felt more natural and the way I'd like to see more LGBT characters handled, like just a character and not a big scene about it. I feel it makes it feel more common place and natural and sends a better message.

Anyway I have found their character choices to be a wonderful combination of progressive but still natural and well written.

@elfunrokr

Two people I'd never vote for... Biden the senile racist, or Trump the moron from birth.

I just hope I will have an alternative this election. Havent seen many good alternatives yet either.

@peterbrown

> if you tried to get away from the binary divisions of Republicans and Democrats, your politics would become much more mature and stable.

I aassume you mean the USA, and on that I agree, having two dominate parties and framing everything against those two is a big issue with american politics.

> Scandinavia is quite clearly a capitalist economy, but quite clearly operates a more socialist welfare program. They are neither socialist not capitalist. Time for some nuance

Socialism and social-welfare are very very different things. You can have high social welfare with absolutely no elements of socialism.

The best technical definitions I've found is something like this:

social-welfare: We help provide support for those who are most vulnerable and need it, perhaps conditionally

socialism: The means of production is publicly owned

Communism: The means of production **and** distribution is public owned.

@realcaseyrollins I think this legitimately plays a factor... in short its probably easier for a woman to find someone who will financially support them than a man would.

I think this goes beyond just marriage and that sort of arrangement. Even in the case of sugar-daddys or onlyFans I think women have a distinct advantage for low-skill high-paid arrangements.

@DaveFernig Yup, agreed... but in the case of veterans the problem started from before they ever made it to homeless status. The military often is what made them that way.

@DaveFernig I dont have any more sympathy for a veteran than I do any other homeless person. Suffering is suffering to me and equally worth addressing.

But there is somthing to be said for the government abusing these people and throwing them aside. As a citizen we are somewhat responsible for our government and that makes us more individually liable in a sense for voting people in that would treat people that way.

@freemo a considerable number are veterans with PTSD - accounts for some of the difference. There may also be a difference in the ability of women to help each other when mental health crashes.

@andymoose

As far as I am concerned you and me have been perfectly civil, I dont think there is any issue there. David just came in with some toxicity, but thankfully he had the good sense to walk away before he carried on too long.

@DavidM_yeg

@andymoose

Yes agreed, it was less strict than how you describe it in athens for sure.

Oddly that goes to prove my point though, there were lockdowns of varying degrees across the globe, maybe were extremely strict, others not quite that bad. But little down lockdowns were in effect globally in one sense of the word or another (restriction of movement, events, and jobs.. basically gatherings).

I am not claiming they were a bad idea mind you(David seems to have some really twisted assumptions in his head about people and what they are arguing)... only that those lockdowns will cause temporary releif that ultimately will go away once lifted and goes well beyond simply masks or hygienic and other more casual sorts of measures.

@freemo

Happy birthday, dr. Freemo! Here is anna with h&k 416, its default modification is fed with 5.56*45 ammo.

> People would be approached by the police when out and it was literally a "papers please" thing.

We actually literally had something similar in the USA. We had special vaccine passports you would have to show to be in most public places for a bit. Thankfully that didnt last long.

But yea, there is plenty of room for misinterpritation of what the term means. Thats why I went out of my way to explicitly claim what it **I** meant by the word. So regardless of what it means to anyone else, it was clearly stated what it meant in the context I am using it.

I care very little for semantics beyond someone understanding me when I speak. So once that word was explained any confusion became a non-issue as far as I am concerned. I likely wouldnt care if I were to use some other determine to describe the same thing. But we all know David here cares more about using it as a weapon to derail any productive conversation rather than any actual concerns over semantics and understanding eachother.

@DavidM_yeg

@DavidM_yeg

I do find it funny though that you ignore all the actual facts when talking to an actual published COVID research scientists.... really showing your colors there.

But yea I'm the one being inflammatory, LOL

@andymoose

@DavidM_yeg

I have clearly described what i mean by lockdown, and you aking up fictional things I said to win is childish to say the least.

I defined lockdown clearly as:

> Just to be clear, no this isnt what I mean. I am talking about where movement itself is restricted (such as cancelling public events or shutting down non essential workplaces)

The fact that your having a tantrum about lockdown literally meaning restricted public movement and shutting down businesses is laughable.

You are right, we are done here.
