@flexghost If states can keep third parties off the ballot then this is fair game.

The day I see ballots where all parties get an equal shake will be the day I cry over someone being denied access to the ballot fromt he top two parties.

@wjmaggos

I kinda agree, there are more **intentional** false claims now, but before the internet there were just as many false claims its just now they are **unintentional**.

Back before the internet finding out if something was true or not was a monumentally difficult task as we just didnt have the group resources that we have today. Encyclopedias were bulky books with tons of errors compared to wikipedia today, which still has errors, but far fewer and the knowledge is far more expansive and advanced.

@wjmaggos

I didnt ask for proof, I asked for evidence.

So if your saying there are things which reasonably and objectively suggest this, then its valid. If there is enough of it to draw a conclusion, its valid.

I wouldnt put it past Trump, I even kinda expect him to be guilty. But its purely speculative unless you can list some evidence.

In the case of OJ he fled from the cops, there was blood in his car that matched the victim, and tons of pretty solid evidence. There is no evidence even remotely comparable to Trump, feel free to correct me if im wrong.

@volkris

@wjmaggos

Big difference. I asked if there was any solid evidence, I did not ask if he was found guilty.

For OJ there was plenty of evidence we all got to see, he was just found innocent regardless.

In trumps case so far no one has provided any evidence, regardless of what the courts conclude.

@volkris

@wjmaggos

I find it pretty easy to debunk. The issue is just that everyone will scream at you that you are wrong. So it only works if you arent easily manipulated by popular opinion.

> I don’t agree, because there are too many “understandings of life”. Everyone doesn’t need to know everything.

Not every student needs to take every class on every subject. But that is vastly different than not offering it at school at all. Obviously not every topic needs to be covered, some might be so obscure as to not be needed. But they would be exluded only because other topics take priority, not because you want to deny someone the chance to learn it.

> We shouldn’t have any of those. I think putting the education about morality and religion into the hands of government-funded institutions is a rather dangerous decision.

Again you arent teaching them what morals to have. You are teaching them all the ways people have evaluated morality and teaching all the varied perspectives to them and giving them the tools to accurately judge morality on their own.

The only time governments teaching kids should be suspect is when they intentionally exclude teaching them about one facet of a topic. So long as the coverage is complete, and teaches how to learn and not what to think, then its good.

Also who said anything about government. Schools can be private schools too, they dont have to be public schools.

> That is the parents’ fault. I will never be one to say “parents do a bad job so the government should parent the kids instead”.

Huh how did we go from "teach them the ways to think critically" to parenting. No one is asking or expecting schools to parent, they should be teaching not parenting.

@SirBemrose @josemanuel

@volpeon Im not sure how i feel about this.. i mean asking for a star for free support is a pretty minimal ask.. but still feels icky.

Updated my handle in honour of @arianesherine when she misheard and then (mis)signed my copy of “The Atheist’s Guide to Christmas”. 😂

@stux I can certainly see a video game where you play a doge that needs to escape the "loving" embrace of elon by chewing his face off :)

@admin

I believe you. I mean i havent needed a recruiter in like a decade. So I cant really speak to the current state of things. People who hire me know about me directly, as are most of those that I hire.

@mel

@admin

You may find reaching out to recruiters rather than direct jobs to be far more effective. Every recruiter will constantly be submitting you to new jobs, if you spread a wide enough net they do that work for you and cover a much wider net.

@mel

@mel

I am using the term spamming very loosely just to mean "to send out to as many recruiters in your field/area as possible".. something they usually welcome.

@admin

@mel

How would that hurt or take advantage of anyone? That is what they do for a living, they welcome it.

@admin

@realcaseyrollins

Also, lets face it the overwhelming majority of people are completely incapable of critical thinking and understanding. Parents do a pretty horrible job at teaching kids critical thinking skills, most just want to indoctrinate and brain wash their kids to believe what they believe, free thinking is the last thing most parents want from their kids. Hell some parents might even punish you for disagreeing with them if their strict.

@SirBemrose @josemanuel

@realcaseyrollins

I would argue that school is **not** about teaching facts at all, it is about

1) teaching kids how to learn
2) Getting kids to **understand** the world.

Their ability to recognize facts will come as an extension of those two, but is not directly what should be taught.

That said, yes school should teach **every** understanding of life... We have philosophy class to teach about morals, sex ed to teach us about reproductive systems and how they work, history, the arts... I mean what is it schools **shouldnt** teach a kid to understand, I frankly cant think of anything. Hell we even have classes that teach about religion.

Have you guys tried spamming your resume to every recruiter you can find? Back when i was doing regular employment I found that to be a very effective way. To this day i still get random job offers/interviews in my email a few times a week. Those offers are for software development usually (and i dismiss them), usually senior level. But I suspect it might be equally effective for you if you get your word out to enough of them.

I am in desperate need of a job by january

please, if you know anyone who is hiring, here is my resume:
